I refuse to give free money to lazy slobs who won't work and who fake injuries with signatures from unscrupulous doctors. I started with nothing (and I do mean nothing) and worked hard for what I've got. That's what this country is about - opportunity - not handouts.
Of all the traits of humanity, there is only one we do not share with other species, which sets us apart and makes us unique
-- the ability to imagine.

I refuse to call the guy who worked for 20 years at the local Auto Shop a freeloader. I know Vinnie makes less than $20k a year on years when the times are tough. I think he worked hard for what he got and i'll be damned if I will tell him that he should pay taxes so that Herbert Wealthyman III can buy another yacht. We tried top down economics and we got nowhere, lets see how this bottom up economics works.

Where does this come from? I didn't see anyone call Vinnie a freeloader. I don't think anyone should pay taxes to support Herbert Wealthyman or Freddie Freeloader either. If Herbert earns enough to by a yacht, he just provided jobs for a lot of people to build that yacht, maintain the yacht, insure that yacht, moor that yacht, etc. And to earn the kind of money to buy a yacht he probably employs a lot of people in his company.

I'm going to blurt it out. How much do I have to pay in taxes to make you happy? My wife does not work outside the home and last year I paid $52,000.00 in state, county, and federal taxes not including Social Security or Medicare and I donated almost $30,000.00 to charities.

What more do you want of me? How much more do you take before the owner and I close our company and put 85 people out of work?

Did I work for what I have? You bet I did. My wife has never worked outside the home. She did masterful job of raising six children who are outstanding citizens who contribute to society. I worked for $1.75 an hour 70 hours a week to support my family while I finished college. I considered myself lucky when I got a raise to $2.10/hr. I thought I was in heaven when I got my first salaried job and made all of $14,000.00 that year. I started at the very bottom of my industry and learned it from the field to the board room. Did it take time (30 years)? Was it hard? Was it worth it? Yes to all three. Best lesson I ever learned is that the richest man doesn't have the most money. The richest man spends one dollar less than he earns, and the poorest spends one dollar more than he earns. If you take the richest man's dollar and give it to the schmuck who spends a dollar more than he earns, what have you gained--nothing because the poorest man is still going to go out and spend what he doesn't have.

Widseth and Mrs Widseth

=D

You are correct sir. But you don't really spend a dollar on tokens, you get far more back in beautiful shiney and sharp things. So the dollar you spend there is a net gain. Right?

Yeah, like you really expect any of us to buy that you capitalistic pig. All of your ill-gotten gains has been accumulated at the expense of ordinary people who you crush and oppress. That's blood money you're rolling around in, you and the rest of the fatcats who own the means of production. Now that Obama's been elected, you and your ilk will finally get the comeuppance you deserve. Rot in hell. Viva la revolution!
