TOPIC: The Chainmaille Wench

Re: The Chainmaille Wench 17 years 3 months ago #49

Ok, I finally have a picture of several different chain styles that I can make. The chains are labeled in the picture, and prices are listed below it.

Instead of quoting every chain in every metal (which is a LONG list), here is a list of all the chains in Bright Aluminum, to give you an idea of what they cost relative to each other, and a price for Forars Kaede in every metal, to give you an idea of how different metals will effect the price. All the prices are for a 16" chain, but you can order any length. Please email or PM me for a quote.

Bright Aluminum
Byzantine 22-332 $300
Byzantine 20-332 $170
Byzantine 20-18 $130
HP 4n1 $75
Full Persian $110
Forars Kaede $70
RSD $55
Orbital Vipera $60

Forars Kaede
10K Gold $725
14KGF $240
Annod Niobium $80
Annod Titanium $80
Bright Aluminum $70
Brass $70
Bronze $70
Copper $70
Enamelled Copper $70
Sterling $240

IMPORTANT NOTE - All my pricing is based on estimates of time involved and material costs (which are subject to market fluctuations). I had to change the prices in the first post slightly. I will honor them for orders placed this month, but they are all subject to change past that date.

Also, I am planning to place a supply order on this Wednesday. If you are planning to order anything within the next few weeks, especially if you want delivery within the next 4-6 weeks, please notify me before Wednesday. Thanks!!

Heidi,
Do you consider any of these styles of chain particularly stronger than the other? Also, how's the new jobs going?

Kim

If we want a token chain, do we need to send you the token, or can we put it in the token wrap ourselves?

Brian
You can either send her the token for wrapping or she can do it at the Con.
As a general rule, the more "lacey" and open the chain, the weaker. But metal choice also makes a major difference.

I'm confused about one thing. When you list all the styles under bright aluminum it says 70 dollars next to forars kaede. When you list all the metals under forars kaede it says 40 dollars next to bright aluminum. Which price is it?

Kim

The Forars Kaede is $70 in Bright Aluminum, Brass, Bronze, Copper, and Enamelled Copper.

That's what I get for posting and watching a movie at the same time. I made a typo, and then copied it for the other metals of the same price. :O

I would at least be interested in finding out how much a shirt would be - if that isn't too much trouble. Another item that might be interesting is something I've seen, but not sure what it is called. It has a headpiece and something below that spreading out around the shoulder/neck area.

A full hood is usually referred to as a coif, if the chain hangs from a helm it is often referred to as a ventail or "aventail". Both can cover just the neck area or extend to cover the shoulders as well. There are many other terms for these pieces (and styles), but these are the two I most often hear.

In order to quote a shirt, I need the following info:
What material you want (Aluminum, Bronze, Steel, and Stainless are the most common). Keep in mind, this will affect not only price but also weight and strength.
The following measurements (in inches): Overall length, sleeve length, chest, and waist.
Plain or with inlay
Opaqueness/strength. In other words, is this for a costume, LARP, SCA, etc.

I can give both price and weight estimates once I have all the info.

Here are links to pics of some coifs that are similar to what you want. I can give you a quote once I know which style you want.
http://www.theringlord.org/gallery/CoifsandAventails/06_19_06_2143
http://www.theringlord.org/gallery/CoifsandAventails/newcoif
http://www.theringlord.org/gallery/CoifsandAventails/WCF
http://www.theringlord.org/gallery/CoifsandAventails/mixcoiffront
