Would anyone be interested in a dynasty league? I have always wanted to try one but I don't know how involved it is.

Dynasty leagues are really hard to keep together. The top half of teams are in every year, but the bottom half usually don’t have much motivation to pay for a league. The only way I’ve seen one have any meaningful duration is having a very nice toilet bowl prize, so even if you have a bad team it might be enough to eek out a toilet bowl win

I also suspect whatever rules are put in place limiting how many players you keep matter as well. If you keep 90% of your team year to year, the best teams would dominate for a long time. If you can only keep a handful of players, things might have a chance to even out (especially if the lower rung teams get some benefit for the next year like better draft position in draft only leagues or more money in auction leagues.) The downside to a benefit for being bad is it then encourages tanking.

I seem to remember Mike discussing a dynasty/keeper league where players got more expensive each year. If memory serves me right: something like salaries doubling so I would keep Robbie Anderson and Crowder but there is no way I could afford Jacobs or Cook. I'm not sure how players being traded would work out (I guess if you wanted to keep a player that you traded for, it would go off what they went for in waivers or the original draft)

In looking at my draft, Robbie Anderson for 2 dollars and Jamison Crowder for 2 dollars works. Engram and Gesicki maybe keep, would have to think about that. Also add Gio and to maybe keep. In looking at waivers/Trades, Tannehill at 2 dollars would also be a keeper which would make those trades and end of year pickups more interesting. Also probably keep the Bucs defense. Claypool at 2 dollars would also be a keeper.

Looking at Mike's team as another example: He would probably keep Chark at 14, Dobbins at 10, Rogers at 4 (maybe), Diante Johnson at 8, Tee Higgins at 2, Robert Tonyan at 2

I might do that for everyone but I thinking that would create a roster turnover of at least 50 percent for each team.

Doing spitball analysis for all teams if keeping players meant their salaries doubled. Also it might be another factor in trading, for example, the Gaskin for Kittle trade probably wouldn't have happened with Gaskin's lower salary. Also it makes the IR spots really interesting because do you keep a player out for the season on IR because you can have him next year.

(Since I can't play cyberpunk while kids are awake and work is being well work)

Tim/Dave: McKissic 2, Gaskin 4, Sanders 4, AB 2, Thomas 4????

Cliff Murray 22???? Robinson 36???? Jefferson 4, Cook 8 ?????( I really don't think so) Maclurin 40 ????(I also really don't think so) Jonest 6

Greg Herbert 2, Diggs 18, Waller 12, Allen 10???? (Since he has Herbert already, on any other team Allen would be a keep) Hunt 16, Gibson 24

Wade Agholor 2, Ebron 4 ???, Beasely 2,

Cary Carson 40????, Taylor 40???? Lockett 28,

Jeff Ridley 34, Fant 4???? Metcalf 12, Wilson 20, Lamb 6, Edmunds 2

Melissa Gordon 22, Henry 8????

Fred Watson 18, Montgomery 12, Brown 22, Hockenson 8, Davis 10, Allen 30?????

The League concept I am thinking of for an additional league would allow you to keep players, but you would have to double their salary every season. So if you drafted the player for 10 dollars, you could keep him for 20 the following season. You could not keep free agent pickups during the season as players in real life never get more than a 1 year deal. I will post my ideas for a secondary league soon, it will be crazy, but I think ultimately very fun. Also I will run the other league with anywhere from 8-16 teams, the lower the amount of teams the higher the amount of starters and visa versa. So a 8 team league might start 10 players, where a 16 team league would start say 8. But again I want to have all of my idea fleshed out before I release my info.

If you don't keep free agent pickups, would there be a deeper bench so you could draft rookies and keep them around? I personally would like a situation where trade options are more encouraged over waiver wire.

Possibly, though you might want to see what the league settings would be. I think the bench area would be fine.

My understanding is dynasty leagues do something beyond just the regular auction draft and waiver line as it pertains to rookies. I don't know the specifics but I thought rookies were drafted separately?

This would be more of a keeper league than dynasty league. Dynasty leagues seem to flounder very quickly in my experience, though if we got people to pay for years in advance so they wouldn't lose interest I think that is the only way to make it work. Otherwise you get a few top teams that are unapproachable and a bunch of disinterested owners... sadly.
