TOPIC: How much is your build worth?

How much is your build worth? 3 years 9 months ago #25

The only time I’ve really wondered about token values has been when changing the case I use to carry them. A friend thought I was crazy to spend $200 for a very durable case. I started to respond by saying what the contents were worth then realized I hadn’t actually done the math.

After several years of collecting and getting to legendaries plus TEs and similar for a whole party, the numbers are frighteningly large. Enough so that I upgraded my case again. Now, it’s just a balance of how much weight am I willing to carry versus what do I really need for a session.

It would be nice to be able to register tokens with TD (especially as they move more to RFID) and have a sheet that says what I have any what my group has that I’m not sliding or pulling out. I could probably cut down to bringing 40 tokens plus some consumables.

People with full legendary builds plus eldritch and bits and pieces of other stuff are all in over 10k for replacement costs (possibly as high as 15k.)

Keep in mind that not all of that has equal impact in game. The supreme elemental command ring gors for over $2k but really doesn’t earn it’s keep compared to many other items. I would recommend as you are building up to look at BiS URs before much eldritch (other than the kilt - it is currently not expensive for an eldritch and is BiS.) once you have the best URs, then look at your class legendary - usually those are amazing.

The good news for newer players is that a lot of the new URs and legendaries are much better than their old counterparts. I would say only 6 or 8 older URs are now BiS and most everything else is within the past 5 years (or even 2 years,)

You get to a point where you can handle nightmare pretty easily without eldritch items.

So, yes, people with maxed out builds have spent a great deal over the years but it isn’t necessary to do so to hang with them.

just a question for this.... is this just a personal build or does this include stuff like extra CoA and CoAS for the party?

Very valid question. I don’t have a personal build. My group has 12 builds because I don’t know what anyone is going to play till we get there. I have a google spreadsheet (that I haven’t updated in awhile) that calculates the sell everything in bulk discount (around 75% of market value) it is around 30k. 9 of the builds range from 2k to 4k. 2 are just over 1.8k and 1 at just over 600. I only have 10 CoA’s and the like like so that is part of the reason for 2 of the lower ones.

  • What it would cost me to replace them in case of loss from theft or fire (somewhere in the range of a nice down payment on a house)
  • What they might fetch if I sold them slowly at the right times (maybe 80% of replacement cost)
  • What they'd fetch if I needed to sell them quickly[ (maybe 60% of replacement cost)
  • What they're intrinsically worth (Pennies? Maybe a few dollars?
  • What fun I get from using them (incalculable)

My guess is my build is somewhere between 6k and 8k

Basically volunteer UR Ioun stones, CoA, Thor’s hammer, surtr’s belt, boots, and kilt really kick the price up there.

My ready-for-first-Hardcore-run Druid is about $400, plus consumables and PUG party loaner gear. Most of the buffing is from Rares, but half the cost is from just three tokens: Medallion of Heroism (+1 level), Enchanter's Whetstone, and Crown of Elemental Mastery (so I can use all my damage spells even if foes are Infernally fireproof or the party is standing in a giant conductor -- Thanks for the warning James!).

Figurine of da bear? Not certain if you are making a joke or referencing a little known token.
