Another is in the works, and this one could actually be good.

From Joe Manganiello who is co-writing the script.

“Obviously, there’s a spectacle. There’s dragons breathing fire and lightning,” he says. “But what makes a great superhero or fantasy movie is the human aspect. It’s got to be about something. We root for those characters in Game of Thrones. Fellowship of the Ring was about friendship, this undying love for your friends. That’s something everyone can identify with.”

Joe Manganiello has been in talks with Wizards of the Coast getting their input and it looks favorable. As well as he has shared a picture of the script he's working on.

I would love to see it. Of course, Wizards has made this into a movie before, the 2008 animated version that used a combination of traditional animation and CGI, and had some decent actors for the voice work (Kiefer Sutherland, Lucy Lawless, Michael Rosenbaum).

By all accounts it's sort of a "bad" movie...but my 12 and 10 year old (at the time) sons loved it when they first saw it and still love it, in fact it's a tradition that they watch it every year in the car on the way to GENCON.

We were all disappointed they didn't make more of the Dragonlance books into animated movies.

Fingers crossed this is live action and done well.

Semper Gumby, Always flexible.

Sartre sits in in a coffee shop and asks for a coffee without cream. The barista apologizes “Sorry, we don't have any cream. Can I offer you a coffee without milk instead?”

You can always get the Gamers series of movies, i.e. Dorkness Rising, etc.

we had this show at a cinema at GenCon Australia way back then, and the Hickmans were there for it.

I think I have some autographed tickets and dvds from the event still floating about.

I will continue to be fooled over and over because I want to support these projects even if they are bad because they are trying.

A Dungeons and Dragons movie could be really good if done right.

I'm a huge Micronauts fan from their Marvel series, plus I had some of the toys when I was a kid. But, for me the appeal of a Micronauts movie is lessened since it won't have Commander Rann, Bug, or Marionette (who Marvel has the rights to).

I feel like this may be a fool me one situation, yet somehow I'm still cautiously optimistic

I feel like the first D&D movie was bad, because of the over acting villain in it, I forget his name. Sadly I think he played Snoke, which explains a lot....
