Actually, no. Even if we were to completely disagree with the premise, we're not the type to ostracize someone who makes a well-reasoned, polite argument.

TD has always had intense but polite disagreements on many non TD topics. However is you want to argue "X" class is over or under powered..... well that is a different story ;)

Some indisputable facts:

The movie is/was controversial.
Reasonable people have different opinions about it.
Some unreasonable and racist people also have opinions on it, but few if any of those folks frequent the forums.
Racism is an attitude. Without mind reading skills, there's no way to know for sure if someone is racist.
The whole situation made Eric uncomfortable.

And some opinions:

It's sometimes tough to balance freedom of expression and anti-racism.
Just because you have a right to say or do something doesn't mean you should. But just because you shouldn't doesn't mean you shouldn't be allowed.
Feels are intangible, but they're still real. I consider Eric a friend, and I don't like that he felt offended.

Like you said, everyone (reasonable and unreasonable) can have opinions on it. I respect the fact that Eric found it to be Racist and was uncomfortable, but at the same time I respect the opinions of those that didn't find it to be Racist. Regarding the controversial nature of the movie, I've been a fan of it since it first came out, and this is the first time that I heard any controversy about racism. I'm certainly not disputing that there was controversy, but I don't think it was universally acknowledged as controversial or racist.
