This is the problem with our country right now. It is just as Jeff said. We are so worried about who is going to control the crows nest that we neglect to patch the ship, endangering all of us. If we cannot correct the ills or see problems within corrupt elements of our supposed "allies", we have lost a basic ethics balance.

In Mr. Bush's last 4 years I wrote the White House and called the White House several times because I felt he was doing a miserable job. When Gordon Smith (R) senator from Oregon who was defeated last election asked me for a donation, I sent him $50.00 in Monopoly money and told him as soon as he decided to be a real senator and actually did something, I would send him some real money. I had written him several times and received nothing but dance lessons around the questions I had asked. At least Ron Wyden (D) senator had the courtesy to send real replies. I can respect that even if I disagree with many of his stances.

As far as I can see Mr. Obama, is a total blow hard with no skills or experience to solve most of the problems we face, and has surrounded himself with tax cheats, racists, and extreme special interest individuals. Eventually his greatest problem will be within his own party because many of them will recognize he is a liability to them getting reelected.

Acorn is under indictment in 14 (I think) states. If I remember the number right, 86 people have already confessed to falsifying voter registrations in those states. I don't really care if that is considered voter fraud because it was caught before the phonies actually voted--It is wrong. 5 out of 6 or was it 4 out of 5 offices of Acorn actually offered to provide information on how to set up a house of prostitution using 13 year old illegal alien sex slaves, as well as defraud the IRS. Why can't the organization be taken to task for this and not just hear, "Well it was just some misguided employees who were entrapped."? Techincally they weren't entrapped either because it wasn't the police entrapping them and usually entrapment laws are directed at law enforcement.

I've said too much. I'll go back to sleep and continue in my big business way to take advantage of everyone around me for my profit. Nah, I got to figure out how to nicely lay off 17 or 18 people. Have a great day.
the issue I have with "no term limits" is two fold. One is the point widseth brought up ( corruption), and two is the simply fact taht most folks don't bother to learn anything about the person whom they are voting for. Until people in this country are willing to pay attention to what happens around them and look farther than the latest movie / video game I have a hard time trusting them to vote for the "right guy"

the conundrum is of course that thinking that way is precisely the reason behind an electoral college, and pardon me if it sounds paranoid, but that brings us back to the corruption issue.

I think there should be a freedom to do as we wish, if it can be coupled with a sense of personal responsibility.

if folks aren't willing to be responsible, then they better adjust to getting ruled.

It's laughable to say Obama has surrounded himself with tax cheats, racists, and special interests people, as if GWB wasn't. I'll grant the first and last, since you could make the case that every administration is similar, but it is nothing more than repeating propaganda from Fox News to call members of the administration racist, or socialist.

I never said it wasn't wrong what Acorn did. However, it is a valid organization with a worthwhile goal of helping communities and helping disenfranchised people to participate in the political process. It was a mistake for the government to take away funding for them.

And Obama is a blow hard with no skills or experience? Let's see - grew up in an interacial family, lived around the world, student, teacher, community leader, public servant at state and national level, knew to speak out against Iraq war - yeah, he's a real talentless loser.

That whole debate is pointless and needlessly argumentative. Obama is the president, like it or not. But Geitner IS a tax cheat, Van Jones IS a racist, and I need not list the horde of special interest people uncomfortably close to the president. Is this different than what Bush did? It is in one important way. Bush did his bad deeds in bed with heartless capitalists, who despite their ills, still love America for what it gave them, and weren't trying to destroy the country I love. We now have crazy radicals who want to destroy the country as we know it, fundamentally change the way it works, and it sure stinks like socialism to me. Honestly, no baggage on that opinion, no racism, no gender bias, nothing. It IS what I believe. Sure, Bush's bad guys were out for themselves, selfish and greedy, but they weren't threatening the very fabric of what America is or was. They were stealing, but they weren't stealing my COUNTRY from me. That, I am sorry to say, is the difference.

You seriously believe that Obama, et al, is trying to destroy this country? Then it's really no use talking to you about this. I won't even address your other ridiculous comments.
And Obama is a blow hard with no skills or experience?

Compared to the vast majority of our presidents? Yep. It's simple quantifiable fact that he's among the least experienced of anyone to hold the oval office. I think he ranks somewhere like 2nd to 4th from the bottom depending on if you weigh executive experience differently from legislative experience. If you just chalk it all up as the same thing he improves a couple places.

You can argue whether experience matters, but those are the simple facts. No reason not to call a spade a spade.

I don't think Obama is trying to destroy the country. I do think he is a socialist and he has surrounded himself with people much more radical, demonstrably violent and acidic in their resentment towards the country, much more bitter about America, than he himself is. Just listen to their words honestly and impartially, and you can come to no other rational conclusion. I do think Obama wants the country to be more socialist than it is. How far he wants to go in his heart of hearts, I don't know, but his contemporaries are not nearly as shy about their beliefs as he is.

It seems funny to me that socialism even has a chance in this country given how every poll shows americans getting more and more cynical about the role of government and how much they trust it. If you don't trust government, why in the world would you believe government can provide all the solutions to your problems?

I was reminded of this reading an article yesterday about some recent polling in california. Arnold has something like a 25% approval rating and the democrat controlled legislature somewhere near 13%, yet over 60% of californians believe they should convene a special session to hash out budget issues. Something like that is just baffling. We have no trust in your ability to do anything and yet we want you to go and fix things for us. Nutjobs.
