Do people lend higher value TEs to people that can't afford them? 1 year 11 months ago #1

Hi, all!

I was wondering if people lend TE tokens to people at Gen Con? I only have a gold and platinum nuggets. I know CoA is super expensive, and trusting someone with it would probably not be easy. I'd be willing to leave my DSLR and/or my state ID/debit card as collateral. I'm after those tinkering tokens, have one so far, LOL!

Thanks!

You are allowed to loan TEs to people ON THE SAME RUN THAT YOU ARE ON.

This is an official ruling. You may not simply loan TEs to other people to take on to their runs. You must be physically on the same run as the other person/people you are loaning to.

Per truedungeon.com/files/PHB.pdf (page 46):

"The loaning of TEs is permissible, but only between people within a single group on the same run together. The loaning player must have the same date & time on their wristband as the loanee."

and I see Potter types faster than I do :)

I'm sorry, I didn't know that. Thank you!

Thank you! My group has 8 people, so I guess I hope other 2 might have some TEs. Sorry, I didn't know about that rule.

If you are trying to collect them via treasure pulls, keep in mind that it will take 1000+ pulls to get 40 tinkering bits, and you'd have to do some trading to make sure you end up with 40 different tokens. It may be easier to buy them or trade for them.

Wow, I didn't realize they're that rare. I got one on my first VTD run, but didn't get any on my second one. Only ran 2 so far. Hopefully I get one in V11.

Their goal was to borrow TEs to collect the tinkering bits. My comment was to point out the general rarity and that buying them or trading for them may be easier.

It's not the cheapest option, but depending on how many TEs your group actually has I've had some luck bribing whales. Offer a free ticket for your run in exchange for someone lending out their TEs to the group. They get to keep their own treasure, your party keeps their treasure. It's not foolproof, you have to hope that the time slot is one that works for one of the people with a ton of TEs, but it's a better shot than hoping one randomly joins your run.
