Bard Poem Book - Bards speak up!!! 2 years 11 months ago #1

Discussion thread for Bards to get more vocal on the forum to push towards a Poem Book as a 2022 Transmute.

My thoughts are a 3 star transmute for common scrolls, 4 star transmute for common/uncommon scrolls and Legendary for any rarity scrolls.

Would like to be able to add scrolls in the future.

Cost ideas on adding scrolls 200 GP for common, 500 GP for uncommon and 1K GP for rare.

Wizards were promised a Spellbook in 2022 and have been campaigning for a spellbook for multiple years. I think Bards should look for something else this year instead of trying to encroach on the Wizard's spellbook design

Why is this a Bard/Wizard thing and not anyone who uses scrolls thing?

Probably because then it would apply to rangers and Paladins, and cause some weird interactions with Ralston's.

Ultimately it could be whatever TPTB want.

I'd like to see if for all members of the Cabal....

What if it were made into a "scrollbook" and we could have all caster classes be able to use it?

Or just leave it a Wizard spellbook that Wizard's have been asking for for the last 5 years and leave it be

My take on this: What would be fine for one class might be poor for another and nobody would be left really happy. Healing needs to be taken into account more with any "divine" casters, which is not a concern with the arcane casters.

I could dig it.

Maybe a scrollbook isn't exactly on point for bards and they would benefit from something more song-y?

Could each class get its own Arcanum/booster type token of some sort?

Wizards get a spellbook - lets them add scrolls as spells to their repertoire

Bards get a music case/music stand - maybe it lets them store an item that grants a bardsong bonus to add to their bardsong?

Fighters get Sun Tzu's the art of war or something - maybe it lets them switch their hit bonus to damage or something?

Druids get a shamanic tome - maybe it lets them specialize more in polymorph or spell slinging?

Rangers get a much better version of the quiver token or something?

I'm just spit-balling here - each one does something special for the class. Maybe not all have to do with scrolls.

This could get fun.

It worries me the negativity surrounding a lot of this discussion. You guys confuse me. This is a team game. Other classes getting something neat is good for the whole party.

The only way I could see bards being included on a spell book would be at the UR level if it flowed into a wizard only transmute. Sorry, my oppinian is just that spellbook are ironically wizard territory, and honestly at this point wizards are the class that needs a boost way more then bards.

Now if the bard book were a separate item I'd be totally cool with it. Maybe something that consumed spell slots to boost bard song. Or something that allowed bard song to manifest as additional spells rather then grant its regular bonus. Etc

P.s. I dont play either class so grain of salt I guess.

Bard Poem Book could provide options to cast things not on the character card on the fly. A poem could be something to enhance another character, provide a party bonus, do an offensive attack or healing. This would allow Bards to be tailored by the player and provide a more diverse experience.

Possibly common scrolls, potions and dust could be added to the 3 star transmute and swap with 0-level spells.

Uncommon scrolls, potions and dusts could be added to the 4 star transmute and swap with 1st-level spells.

Rare scrolls, potions and dusts could be added to the relic or legendary and swap with 2nd-level spells. Leaning to relic since Bards are currently capped at 2nd level spells.

Allow for a one for one swap on the fly and integrate as part of Bard song.

Allow additions to capture future tokens as part of poem book.

Allow poems to be cast as spells and modified by spell bonus items that already exist.

Even if we don't put anyone else on a spellbook, I couldn't agree with Jim more.

TD is a team game.

I like playing wizard sometimes. Why? Because it's fun to imagine myself making things from nothing and freezing, burning, shocking, or whatever else to help the team.

I like playing bard sometimes. Why? Because it's fun to know I'm helping everyone else out and making their thing better.

Etc
Etc
Etc

It's a good team game.

Let's make the whole team better.
