I also suspect there was a way to get past the encounter in room 7 without a fight but I couldn't come up with it. This year, it may have been possible to do the entire run without a single combat.

I am down for trying a no combat run if it is even possible

This one wouldn't be the non-combat one but I am open to having the other one (we'll likely buy out two runs) be non-combat.

I dunno, but it would've been cool if you could've found/learned something in an earlier room to gain safe passage.
I came here to sing and collect tokens, and I'm alllll out of money.

Does anyone else think there’s going to be a sudden but inevitable betrayal?

I think the betrayal is likely as well.

For bard, I was thinking of being able to argue their bardic instrument is their "weapon" but you could be right that it wouldn't be allowed.

I am curious if it would mean moving down to 4th level cards or if we could keep the 5th level cards (where we started).

My guess is, for simplicity, they would allow us to stay at 5th level, keep any runestones we used in effect, and not change treasure enhancers.

We would want to convince the DM to allow us to do our own version of rogue treasure boxes with 2020 tokens to simulate what would normally be drawn (realizing it isn't physically there for VTD - just mailed later.)

We'd also have to agree that we wouldn't do the puzzle solution for the last room (the new version) so there is, at least, 1 combat.

Edwin - thank you for not posting what happens based on the group you indicated tried it. If we do this, it should be a surprise.

Fred

As someone else posted, the use of the blowgun is a clever way to maintain an instrument past the encounter.

I would be up for giving this a try. I don't know if it is doable or not, but having all of your spells back should help. I would expect deaths in the last combat.

Fatalities are very likely.

I wonder if the last encounter could be bypassed by convincing the baddie that we were it’s aster or by otherwise not appearing as a threat. The 513 was a hint at something (OH area code?).

My GF and I would be willing to give it a go. She runs bard and I usually run melee Ranger but could do any melee.

I'm willing to give it a shot if you need a wizard. I'm normally geared for HC and have a staff of focus, but it's not like my gear really matters if we're losing it all in room 3 anyway.

I would be interested as well - in either a test of the Ogre Mage's offer, or an attempted combat-less run.

Galaxybrain strategy: go into the dungeon with no equipment at all - the SPOILER has to give you a weapon.

Plus having a Paladin with the +3 Holy Avenger for the extra 10 lay on hands would help out a lot
