Also, I love the idea of giving used consumables to new people. It really helps set the tone.

Sorry, no. It is a different test...but you should still like how the skill test tracks with your knowledge.

May I just keep both tickets in my account and show both at check in (we will be on separate devices but in the same home) and have all of the tokens mailed under my account?

There is no need to make another account. In fact, we are going to throw in an extra pack of Treasure Tokens for saving us some shipping costs.

A 10 pack is basically the same price as shipping so tossing in an extra 10 pack for each extra run result merged into a single box perhaps? Alternatively $8 store credit would be even better, but I suspect a lot more effort than just tossing in an extra pack (and I don't actually know if the store even supports holding extra credit currently).

How does this sound?

Q. How will the 5th level Rogue's Power "Flank" by handled in VTD? A. Once per combat, instead of attacking during a combat round, rogues may declare they are flanking. The Rogue then names one of the other characters, and that person gets to make three attack roles -- taking the best of the three as their one roll result. The naming of the character must be done before that character has taken an action that round.

Jeff, that sounds great. I think you were responding to a different post though, and I'm interested in what you think of this post. An extra pack of tokens for each instance of combined shipping sounds good to me, it seems like one shipment and 9 extra packs of tokens would cost less than 10 packages shipped. But, you probably don't need to add incentives, since most people combining shipment are probably going to do it anyway.

How's this?

Q. Do I get some extra swag because I am leaving all the tickets I bought in my account -- instead of transferring them to the other players? This means all the swag gets sent to my address, and that will save TD some mailing costs. A. Yes. We will include an extra random pack of Treasure Tokens for each ticket's swag sent to a single address. For example, let's say you bought 5 tickets for you and your friends, and you do not transferring any tickets to another person's account. When we ship all the swag for those 5 tickets to your address, we will include 5 of the normal Treasure Token packs that come with the 5 tickets, but we will also include 5 additional Treasure Token packs, too.

Jeff, that sounds awesome! :)

Honestly, I can't really give you a perfect answer. I don't really know since I am too close to the event. My guess is that it should work well for new players who have had some D&D live-play experience or escape-room fun. I don't know if it will work well for non-gamers. The Patrons seemed to love the playtest, but most of them were veterans. I'd appreciate you giving it a chance with them.

I was talking about this with someone else. I strongly think that the experience of first time players gets strongly impacted by any experienced players that are in the run with them. This is true in regular times, but also in this format. If experienced players are in runs and say things like "oh, but it is even better in person" or "yeah, but you really aren't getting the full experience", that's the kind of thing that would probably hurt the new players' experience more than anything else.

I watched the patron run and did feel that urge to think I'd want to give those types of disclaimers (only to people I know). I worry that if the virtual is their first experience, they would not be quite as likely to catch the bug that the richness of the IRL experience provides. I don' t have an answer on how to resolve that other than doing my best to be inclusive and engaging. I want people to get hooked and come back.

Sorry, but this is not in the works for this first Con. We may add this for the second.

If I make a token order for $250+ after Gencon would I be able to get any swag from runs sent with that?

I think your first statement is very true. People make the experience as much as the dungeon itself. They second I think it depends on who is hearing it. Some folks may hear that and think wow this was cool now I want to do the physical dungeon.

How do we redeem the treasure cards we got as a bonus with our preorders?
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

And this is where text fails :) I think you're absolutely right about the second part. I had a certain intonation of the words in my head when I wrote it, but "how" the speaker says it can drastically impact that phrase.

Got some tickets yay!

Regarding "Q. Is the XP the same as at an in-person event? So Hardcore/Nightmare gets the high XP? A. Everything will all be the same with regard to how XP, treasure and Participation tokens work. So, if you play all five virtual adventures you can add five amounts of XP to your account."

I believe IRL we have started allowing a few people armed for Hardcore+ in PUGs run at a handicap to allow for them to get the Hardcore benefits, (XP and rewards). Will there be a way we can do that here in virtual TD if some in our group does not want to run at a higher level?

Additionally, regarding,

"Q: Can I prepare my character ahead of time? A: Yes! In fact, it is required that you have your character equipped before the event starts. Please use the soon-to-be-updated app that will be available at the link below after July 18th."

Will there be a mechanism to select, and work out classes, between the PUG, before the run? Many tokens are class specific and it would be great to have that worked out in advance.

Good idea! :) It would be best to place it during VTD Gen Con weekend, and we will ship it all together. Thanks.
