I really hope it takes place odds are it's going to be canceled based on the Federal government keep non-essential people at home until late July or early August now. Also, CDC saying this pandemic could go on for a couple of years now. A sad year for gaming! The good thing is... we have virtual playing areas!

I think it's likely it is cancelled also, but the odds it happens have gone up a bit, now that the Indiana guidelines allow conventions after 4 July, assuming things stay on track, and I'm sure with a lot of safeguards built in. Even it if happens, I'll have to assess the risk closer to GENCON (or I guess closer to event registration) to see if I'll attend or not.

Indiana released its provisional BACK ON TRACK document late last week. Its a 5 step phased approach to returning to public life. Phase 5 starts July 4th I believe. Thats a month before GC. For an event of this magnitude thats probably cutting it too close. But, here's to hoping!

Remember that 3 criteria must be met before moving from each stage to the next. That's the most likely point of difficulty. I'm hopeful, but realistic.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

Also, phase 5 still requires conventions to practice social distancing in order to happen. I'm really not sure how social distancing combines with conventions.

Maybe the use of facemasks when social distancing isn't possible? I'm not sure how you can do True Dungeon, for that matter, if everyone has to be 6 feet from everyone else.

Fewer, larger rooms. Smaller parties. May not be practical.

we are still 3 months away...ish. a lot could happen either way. The best thing to do, is sit back and enjoy the ride and not worry what will or wont happen.

I agree it's not worth worrying about. Either GENCON will or won't happen. If it does, True Dungeon will or won't be there. If GENCON does happen, everyone will have to decide whether or not they want to attend. The first two of these aren't in most of our circles of influence. It is interesting to speculate though on what changes could be incorporated to make GENCON and True Dungeon workable in this environment.

I'll bet the decision will be made a lot sooner than 3 months away though, maybe before Event Registration opens (whenever that is).

This is really the ONLY thing we can do. Nothing we say here will change what will happen. I am choosing to be optimistic and believe GC will happen with certain modifications.
