TOPIC: New Slot Thought

It seems like new slots are simply an inevitable thing. And I'm okay with that. New slots lend to new creativity with tokens.

Someone brought up the suggestion of a Tattoo slot. I never thought of it, but that was a great idea. It could function a couple different ways. Either a a minor buff to a stat, or as a one-time use like Figurines.

I also wanted to touch on the topic of the Mask slot idea. I'm on the fence about this one. I'm not opposed to it. As I just mentioned, a new slot could spark new token effect ideas.
I'm also okay leaving it at being a Head slot item.

I am curious if anyone else thought the Mask might be made as the Eye slot. When you think about it, a mask does cover the eyes in most cases I can think of.

But let's say they do make a new Mask slot. I would say majority of masks should have a stipulation that you can't equip the eye slot. There could be exceptions of course. Thinking of masks like those worn by some Japanese Samurai where it only covers the nose/mouth area. This type would allow you to wear both a mask and goggles. This type of mask would no doubt be of the UR+ variety.

Then again, my POV on masks could sound really stupid. In which case, refer back to my forum name. Hahaha

I would like to see a slot addition for Familiars. They could provide both a bonus and have a penalty if they died. Make them susceptible to saving throws for area affect damage, no need to mess with individual creature HP's that way. Or tie it into the characters HP, say drop below 5 or death, familiar also killed. Bonus could be to increase character stats, HP, AC, specific saves, treasure or boost a skill check, wide variety of options based on familiar token rarity. Penalties could include loss of HP, minus penalty to stats, or even the dread, loss of a treasure draw. No real gain, without the potential of real loss.

My 2 cents

OOO! I really like the familiar idea. Definitely a risk/reward type option. Death to a familiar is always bad for the companion.
The Tattoo slot could actually be done as a "consumable" too, essentially a Totem Paint, but evoked within the dungeon to unleash its effect.

Maybe along the lines of the power of a rare token that is turned in before the run?

I am 110% behind new consumable rares. Go nuts with those - consumable race / familiar/ tattoo tokens all have my vote.

I guess I dont see race as consumable. Nor tattoo, unless we call it temporary....

Familiar. Sure.....

If runs stay at 10 people max then the current character options are a good base set in my opinion since you have the option of 2 fighters and 2 wizards should your party of 10 want to have that mix.

Wonder tokens already have provided racial type benefits in the past and could be use to the same in the future.

If one wanted to there could be a rare token that allows a partial wonder effect of a racial type benefit for a single run.

The point of suggesting other names such as brawler/defender fighter class is not to lose the number of players or any class. Dwarf fighter and fighter are basically a defender fighter and a brawler fighter respectively. The literal only reason to do so, is to remove race from the card. It does two things, first enables anyone to be any race for their role play (halfling rogue or half orc fighter seem like cool cos playing in td). The other side is the allowance for race tokens, single use or otherwise.

On the topic, racial tokens that are single use do remove some of the more terrifying graphic aspects of a race token.

I'd like to see a pet or familiar slot. Seperate from anything ranger related, simply a slot to place a pet that gives a bonus to stats in some way or provides some type of fun ability once per game.

These could be animals, spirits, demons, magical objects, a squire, etc.

Tank pets add AC or saves, damage pets add dmg or hit, magic pets and wisdom or Int, healing pets heal over time or add hp. Etc.

I'll probably hold out for the Treasure Enhancing Familiar/Pet - maybe a Leprechaun. ;)

I'm all for a familiar slot. I feel like they've already set a precedence for this with the GT baby beholders.

We must be careful, or we will have characters with like 6 or 8 minion NPC's. Like many many years ago when one of my AD&D players successfully convinced some rakshasa to join him and now had a bunch of permanent retainers going along. Between them and the party's NPC's, it was like an infantry platoon of adventurers. Looking back, it probably shouldn't have been possible, but we were like 14 or 15, so who knew. Crazy times.
