Not to mention that using scrolls represents spending cash on tokens for the scrolls in the first place, often running a solid $50+ for a scroll supply per con season, and keeping a scroll build on the more affordable side of rare and low transmutes would be nice IMO.

Pushing it into an off-hand slot: Not much of a fan of that. Would prefer slotless but understand the resistance to slotless items.

I think it would work better as a slotless rare or enhanced 3pt, personally. Maybe even a treasure box only or participation rare. Scrolls are a tight niche build at the moment that looks great on Bards, not sure on Clerics, Wizards, or Druids since they have more direct role build options immediately available that are probably better than a scroll build.

I'll admit selfishness in wanting a scroll booster that works extremely well for Bards while still offering something to the other scroll casters, especially since the Lute of Fury and Free Fury will still be available next year. :)

So if you want rare builds, you should be able to show a power level for ur as well, balance requires full spectrum consideration. if you want one for a bard specifically that works with lute of free fury, I can think on that. honestly it was an idea, and it seems unliked, I wonder if that says something about its power level, scrolls in general, or the idea itself.

Though the magnifying glass sounds thematically fun, I suggest just making it a different slot like Ioun Stone. Ioun Stone Diamond Magnifying or something.

You should go walking with a map, a walking stick, and a compass. Leave the phone at home, life can be fun with a little excitement. Also magic, from paper, out of a scroll tube that enchants it.

I have gone walking with a walking staff, compass, and map. And my AC at such times would have been practically 0. ;)

While we could handwave it as "because magic happens", moving it to a different slot avoids introducing that.

As one more data point I would say I like the idea. Anything that adds a viable build path to the game is worth exploring. I would prefer to see it slotted to make it an actual choice and not just another item that everyone has to have.

On the subject of scrolls:

Gnomish Bracers of the Scholar:
The wearer may cast two scrolls in one round. The second scroll consumes the wearer’s Free Action for that round.

This would be a modified reprint of the Lenses of Sage Speed, but would be in a new slot. The picture would be bracers that have an extra mechanical arm that is holding a scroll.

This would open up the eye slot for a UR eye slot that adds bonus healing / damage to scrolls.

I don't dislike the idea of having the same power as the LoSS in a different slot, but I do dislike conflicting with the Cabal Set (since it has one of the few other scroll boosts). How about the waist slot, with the image being a belt with a mechanical arm pulling out the scroll? In theory, if you're caring a lot about scrolls, you should care less about strength boosts (seemingly the most common waist boost), and you likely won't care about the polymorph belt.

You may have to wait a couple years to get a UR eye slot token that boosts scrolls for healing and damage, as the new LoDS gives a bonus to healing scrolls.

Just seems to early for a functional reprint to me for LoSS.

I'd just make it different / better. Waist slot is more powerful than lenses.

Stick it in the waist and just make it: "You may read a scroll as a free action."

So - like Medallion of Mystic Mouth but for Scrolls, and in another very powerful slot.

It’s kind of a nifty idea but I don’t think that you’ll actually see many people running that build. The cost with scrolls as well as the alternatives which are less desirable than the spellcasting options.
I’m just saying that I don’t think a lot of new token collectors are going to try and go that direction.

What if it worked similar to the Charming set, but ran off Ioun Stones equipped?

UR - Supreme (Offhand something) of the Sage, +2 AC, +1 to Damage/Healing scrolls for every Ioun Stone equipped (Max +7). Bard, Cleric, Druid, Paladin, Ranger, Wizard.

That would be a decent swap for the Shield of the Scholar for melee offhand, would be open to all scroll casters, and combos with ioun stone builds. If it's slotted as a ranged offhand then it doesn't compete and would work with anyone using a two-handed melee, but I don't know what all shook out after the recent Archer's Buckler rules reassessment. No AC bonus and it feels too niche for a UR to me.

Man... That would be a must-have UR token for me. :) Heck, I'd be fine with it as an enhanced 4pt or Relic if people think it's too powerful for a UR. :D

It is a definite must-have for Wizard (they don't get AC in off-hand). And a fairly easy decision for Bards and Druids (Shield of Scholar or Dragonscale only real competition). Clerics and Paladins would have to give up most to use it (with Templar and Redoubt also available).

Why the desire for off hand slot? Why not a different slot that would allow it to work with Shield of the Scholar?
