It doesn't entirely fit in this category, and it's a couple of years out, but I thought I'd toss the idea out there that the next series of special reward URs to replace the Teeth (which replaced the Rod Segments) be shorter than a series of 7. I've noticed with both the Rod Segments and the Cavadar Teeth, that once it gets past the first 3-4 of the series, the price per UR drops down to the $50 or lower level. Maybe they should be around 4 token series instead of 7? It seems that now that Tooth #5 values have plummeted, that has made it harder for people to buy the $8K orders and sell the components, which might impact token sales. Of course, if TPTB have data showing this hasn't impacted $8K token purchases, then feel free to ignore this post. ;)

This is because, in both cases, the token sales have increased over the 7 years, so there are a lot more of the later year tokens than the early year tokens. It seems logical that token sales will continue to increase in the future, as player bases are built up at additional conventions.

Also, it might be good to make sure the individual URs have value even if they aren't transmuted. The Rod Segments all give a slotless stat boost of some sort, so they are still pretty good as stand-alone. The Cavadar Teeth won't have much stand-alone value in the future, especially since it seems likely that after the Eldritch transmute is completed and we've moved on to a new type of set, there won't continue to be psychic power unlocking tokens in subsequent years.

It probably has as much to do with new (or returning) players who missed their chance at the early ones. That happened to me for both sets of seven. So if anything, the early items would be cheaper, because people wouldn't have as long to come in and play catch up...

Special!!
Redeem at start (1/player), choose one of the following:
  • Play as Prestige Class (as if Ro7P voucher were redeemed)
  • Play as this year's Unique Class (1/party, first come first serve)
  • Gain this dungeon's Wonder effect

And I also propose that the Wonder effect be posted in advance, and be the same whether one uses Amulet of Wonder, Eldritch Runestone, or Special!! (but may vary by dungeon)

This is not my idea, but it’s a good one that I would like to forward on, I think I read it in the Transmute thread, I might find a link for it in the morning.

This thread has always had a component of analysis and critique every year.

What is different this year is the first cut is in the general forum rather than Lords and Ladies. Although with the addition of a third dungeon and “make up” XP from retro dungeons, 5th level isn’t such a big deal anymore.

I'm not certain what you mean about Eldritch Runestone here? The AoW and Eldirch Runestone have different effects.

Are you saying in the future the AoW and Eldritch Runestone would always have the same effect, and that effect would also be granted by this token?

Yes, that is (for sake of simplicity among other things) what I am suggesting.

I do agree with Mike though in that I think a big reason for peoples lack of interest I the teeth is that they dont do anything so if your not going for the set they're easy to skip. I hope that the next collectable set has individual effects regardless of the number of years it lasts.

They do something. Just not something on their own, or something terribly useful, or anything terribly obvious. Psionics, but yeah...

In regards to the extra rod and tooth components, one idea would be turn them in for a one use effect. If you could turn in a tooth to use one of the sub-class character cards for that run, I would expect they would be popular and the extra supply would be used up quickly.

That would be quite a steep price for a one use effect.

I like the idea of turning in unwanted tokens for a one-time effect (making them into a form of Special token), but it would have to be a much better effect than using a sub-class for me to turn one in. I wasn't even using the sub-classes most of the time I was able to.
