True that! For the record I have no skin in this, I just feel for Jeff and wish some would lighten up a little to keep it simple for others namely the Jeff and the TD team. Not everything in life is unfair, just my fifty cents.

Thank you Jeff, all of this is really awesome news! This takes a lot of pressure off GC and makes Origins that much more of a must go. Coming off of Origins 18', GC and GHC I'm really looking forward to the freshness and hopefully True Grind. It's such a great compliment to TD. I'm ready for 8-10 at least.

Question, can the Transmute Bead now be made at Origins once and if all the new bits are acquired there?

Bead - good question. I will have to talk to the Transmute Team on that.

Cool, finger crossed!

I know some people that were planning to do N2 and N3 at origins. Could the “TD Lite” event be basically one of these dungeons so that people could still get the experience that could only go to one con a year.

What are the prices of the dungeons gonna be? Is it gonna be the regular $58 USD or is it gonna be the same as Gencon?

My guess is $58 or close to that. My understanding is gencon is the only con with a higher price on dungeons.

I'm happy to hear you haven't given-up on a "First Quest" type offering. After seeing many potential players intimidated by TD in recent years, I feel strongly that we need a version of TD that is geared to entice new players; less of both a financial and time commitment...but still enough "wow" to get them to join our cult.

That said, I really missed Grind at GHC and would love to see it return at Origins.

I do have some suggestions for the "first quest" idea.

1. My experience was that inexperienced DMs ran the runs - significant mistakes led to PC deaths that shouldn't have happened. Even worse, when it was politely pointed out by veteran players that something should be handled differently - they immediately got defensive. If anything, these runs should have the most experienced DMs since it is about hooking new addic... er... players.

2. Allow for GP in the sealed packs to be traded for weapons or armor. I saw a run where we had half of the sealed packs have gold for the rare (pretty statistically unlikely - had to be several hundred to one odds). New players won't value gold much anyway so letting them "buy" weapons or armor would be useful (conceptually - this same idea could apply to regular novice runs as well).

So, to double-check: when you say "TD Lite", that's pretty much something along the lines of the Viper's Pit?

Would be a great time for wondering weapons merchant npc, just saying :)

If the goal is to avoid anyone being cheated, might as well close up shop. There are already people who feel cheated that Norse dungeons won’t be at Origins.

Letting people draw 2019 loot with leftover 2018 chips would pale compared to that. It’s not like anyone planned it that way, and it might take out a minuscule bit of the sting.

“If only I’d known....” well, nobody knew. We’ll have to get over loss of N2 & N3. People can just get over the loot thing.

If anything, not having access to 2018 treasure for the monster bits is the only thing that would be "cheating" someone when it comes to treasure. I was more interested in 2018 treasure draws than 2019 as I transmuted a lot of uncommons and rares that I wouldn't mind having more copies of, but I also just don't care in the grand scheme of things. For one thing, uncommons and rares have minimal value and I'm sure if I tried real soft I could find some in bulk.

It's far more of a loss that 2018 dungeons ended with PAX than whether someone gets monster bits from 2018 or 2019. Well, IMO. I just don't get how this is a factor in deciding which dungeons to run at Origins as it's so trivial in practice.
