TOPIC: Gamehole Con Housing

Per GHC

We are sorry about the problems with the housing portal. The City of Madison apparently failed to add the Holiday Inn Express to the block. That has been fixed now so it is available.

The Comfort Inn apparently never returned the contracts to the City (of course not telling us that) so for now, there is no block there but there should be sometime soon.

As I mentioned in another feed, there is a new Hilton hotel coming on line this fall right across the street from the Clarion. That will be a great option for people as well. They are not open yet so cannot be booked as of now. They should be open in time though, so I am told at least.

Holiday Inn has no rooms left. Block rate of $149/night.

Grab the rooms at Comfort Inn before they go into the block.

I got the days inn out of block, cheap, close, and nice enough, stayed there before.

I got the Sheraton nov 1st-3rd,
I got Kids with plans for the 31st,
So I can’t be there,
I hope for 2020 they move it away from
Halloween weekend.

Weekend is based on when Big 10 schedules an away game for the Madison team.

This year get your freak on if you are staying near State st.

I give Alex Kammer credit as at least he acknowledged there were issues when they were brought to his attention and his updates and feedback were helpful. Beats the normal communication silence from other cons.

Would've like to have known ahead of time that the Clarion wasn't an option but my roommates and I are out block back at the Comfort Inn. Just need to make sure if you're a coffee connoisseur to bring your own. Free breakfast is okay enough for the needed fat/carbs, that coffee was indeed rotgut.

Totally agree that the communication was very much appreciated. Also, a little disappointed that The Clarion wasn't even an option. But otherwise, things went about as well as possible. The Sheraton may be close, but not close enough when carrying tokens, so that still means driving over early enough to get a decent parking spot. At least the parking at the convention center is covered by the con. That's another nice thing they do that is appreciated.

I am interested to see if the sponsored socials on Thur, Fri and Sat are moved to other hotels since the Clarion was never an option as part of the City of Madison Housing Portal for GHC.

I think it was part of the block, but gone before us peons had a shot at it. The volunteers, TD, and VIG's filled it quickly.

From what I saw, GHC staff, special guests, TD, vendors, and if an attendee was VIGs every year from GHC 1 through GHC 6.

Volunteers have not always been in the Clarion. One year some of us were in the Country Inn in Monona, Another year, some of us were in the Sheraton.

I don't know if things have changed by adding more hotels to the block, but I was just able to book the Hampton pretty easily.
