A real answer. If you want full XP. Go to more cons.

If XP is that important. You will.

Things change. You have to adapt or watch it pass you by.

This is a great way for TD to get more people to the smaller cons.
I full support it. There are some more changes I would like to see too

Good summation, Laz. It puzzles me that this is creating such angst. Gotta focus on important stuff and enjoy the gaming experience.
You still got hit points! Get back in there and fight!!

I completely agree.

What I haven't seen from anyone who wants to maintain things as they are, or make it so that all yearly XP can be earned at Gen Con with needing to go to other cons, is how that would be good for TD.
I don't get the "this is how we are already doing it and it had been working ok" argument.
I think every unique room should generate XP, but I get that it is probably easier logistically to have each run have a max XP. If we were making an XP revision wishlist, this would be part of it for me.

It would be better still if "best of" runs somehow also generated XP for the player for any rooms they hadn't seen before. I would think this would be doable as well, but I don't write computer code, so I have no idea how tough it could be to implement.

I would like to think that adding XP to other cons exclusively would not drive players away, but might encourage new players. If even one person joins TD more frequently because of the XP program, then that is a good thing.

Like Laz said above, and I said several pages ago, if it's a priority, you will find a way. If it isn't, then it isn't.

I'm with you on that.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

not unless you do it at a higher level. e.g. from normal to hardcore.

duplicate runs do not accumulate extra X.P.

the talk here is about a new unique event at a non Gen Con convention.

Rob F wrote: Sweet!!! Sounds great! As for the XP I have no problem with this. At my game table if you want XP then you need to show up, if not the game still goes on. You want TD XP...then make it to a Con. If not no biggie, the world will not end.

Way late to this party but this^^^^^^^^^^

I never understood the whining about XP and treasure. If you showed up, paid for the tix/trip and invested in tokens, it's fair game. Due to life changes I missed 2014 & 2015, I did not expect or want a participation trophy. I missed it and missed out - end of story.

Love this new adventure prequel, the expansion and how its available at several Cons. GC is getting harder each year to get tickets it's nice to have options.

I was thinking this myself today - from the perspective of a loyalty rewards program it makes no sense to stop granting "points" for the first run of a unique dungeon. I understand for the RPG metaphor it doesn't work, but if someone goes to 3 cons and runs each dungeon twice per con, there is no obvious reason they shouldn't get 6 times the rewards "points" as someone who goes to one con and runs each dungeon once.

I don't know that I'm on board with XP for every ticketed dungeon run.

Would that include ghosted runs? Do we want to further incetivize that?

Would it negatively impact volunteering? If I volunteer at GHC two runs is the most I can feasibly do. And that only with some flexibility from the Coordinators. Others are doing many.

Does it start to feel like "pay to win?"

Isn’t TD already “pay to win” with token purchases?
