Well it'd be worth using the 1d10+10 method if you are wearing a Ring of Wizardry but I would seriously question your ring choices if you did that. There are so many other rings that give a better bonus for Wizards.

Well it'd be worth using the 1d10+10 method if you are wearing a Ring of Wizardry but I would seriously question your ring choices if you did that. There are so many other rings that give a better bonus for Wizards.

People equip what they have. Not everyone has best in slot, I don't know if we should questioning people choices without know all the information.

EDIT I don't have a Ring of Wizardry, but if I did have one it would be on one of my wizards because it would be better than the rings that I do have equipped on them.

I've often thought it would be fun to equip a Wizard with this ring and a Charm of Spell Swapping, and slide as much as possible. The bonuses would simply be a nice plus.

In the specific instance of the Ring of Wizardry it'd be worth using the 1d10+10 roll.

Given a standard UR+ token build with boosts to dex and/or +ranged to hit most players are hitting on a 2+ so the 1d20 method would double their hit chances (that is a natural 1 on 1d10 in a 10% chance and only 5% on a 1d20) wasn't meant to imply anything specific to the ring, just identify that it's a wiser decision as a Wizard to use the 1d20 for attack rolls due to the nature of probabilities.

Sorry I had misunderstood.

I like Wade was thinking about the ring specifically in VTD and with the charm of Spell Swapping so you could double lots of spell damage (limited to sliding spells). Not doing it because I don't have the ring, but it made for an interesting thought experiment.

Also, as someone who started his 1st 10 years sliding, I like the wizard bumping and still hitting, with the off chance for the 20.

It won't replace spell storing or relsa's, but it's fun to play with.

How do you normally announce it? Not trying to make light, I am seriously asking as I don't usually play a wizard and don't play attention to how they do or don't announce it.

Generally I have just told them the final total, to save them having to look up my bonus and do the math in their head. If they ask how I got there, I tell them I used Mad Evoker's.

One could announce "Magic Missle with Mad Evoker's charm" before the skill test and make the DM do all the work.
