Is there enough volunteers to support an addition run at GHC or which run would be available less times?

My group would do the special event at GENCON, and many of us would make a special trip to Carbondale ILL for it. If it were at another convention, I don't think any of us would attend, and I'd be looking to sell or trade my invitations. :)

I'm sure you would get a LOT of interest.

Out of curiosity, why would a carbondale trip be ok but not say Columbus for Origins, or Madison for GHC? Seems like costs would be fairly similar.

I just know from experience with my group, they've enjoyed the TD exclusive events like True Realm and especially True Dungeon Celebration, but none of them have any interest in doing another convention other than GENCON.

I'm sure I'll be selling some anyway, I'll have more than my group can use.

That's just it...the limiting of who could buy the tickets creates an issue.

The two conventions where TD is not integrated into the convention ticketing system are Pax South and Origins.

I prefer Origins of these two options.

Why couldn't True Dungeon handle it the same way they do (or at least did) handle the runs they let people pre-buy as part of the lottery?

Per TokenDB, the 8th Power related to the Special Event is Astral Projection. Maybe the event is held in the Astral Plane, and we're just all sitting at home with our Astral Projections participating in it. :)

That’s Precisely why I suggested Gamehole con. Logistically it makes a lot of sense.
The discussion of larger number of participants is going to require a lot more volunteers. The advantages of doing it at a Con as opposed to a stand alone event is that the infrastructure is already in place and there’s a multitude of other things for the volunteers to do when not working.
There is plenty of room to set up another dungeon.
As far as ticketing, I think something could be arranged to have Just the special event tickets available at Td.events so they could be restricted by patron code.

At a stand alone event all of those things have to be dealt with. For a small event TD staff could cover most of the positions aided by the volunteers within driving distance and able to get the time off. Each additional volunteer adds to the load the infrastructure needs to be able to handle.

That could work. Potentially hundreds of individual ticket sales and then grouping into groups of 10 and letting folks know what time they get after event catalog is published. It would still look bad on gencon site when a complete series of runs is not available.

The prebuy for GenCon is for is only a hanful ot two runs out of many. The teeth run would be 100% of its runs.

A lot of people are assuming the special event will be a full dungeon. I kind of doubt that. There are a LOT of teeth sets out there. Also there will be players that only do Gen Con that will want to unlock their final psychic power there... but there are major space issues at GC, volunteer staffing / scheduling concerns, ticketing issues, etc.

Therefore, I am imagining 1 or 2 rooms with a couple NPCs and it being not much more than a glorified turn-in process. Maybe a simple puzzle in one room where you have to use your psychic abilities to solve it, and then in the next room you place your teeth on pedestals and an NPC takes them and gives you the completed transmute version. The resources required to pull this off (props, floor space, volunteers) are a lot less. They also wouldn't have to deal with scheduling/ticketing and could run the special event at multiple cons.

Or possibly they will use one of the regular full dungeons, and in the last room IF you have the teeth to turn in, you do so, and there's a ceremony for that. So they can sell tickets like normal for everyone, but if you have them, you get a little bit extra to do in your normal dungeon run. Or maybe an alternate final room. Something like that.

So that's what I'm expecting, if it's more grandiose than that, fantastic, but I'm not getting my hopes up on this.

Maybe it's just dinner for everyone at Jeff and Lori's house. I think Jeff joked about that once. :)
