When I said it was “obvious to me,” that doesn’t mean it had to be obvious to everyone. One of the perils of being in on design discussions is that the things you hear become unconscious assumptions.

I’m sure a lot of people who didn’t have that background read the token and their interpretation is “obvious” to them, even if it differs from mine.

Anyway, I hope I didn’t offend anyone.

It also creates interpretation troubles when an item goes through multiple iterations and adjustments to 'fix' power level. Sometimes we assume that an item still works a certain way (for better OR worse) even after it gets changed.

Randy. wrote: the text on the token is not very helpful in determining how DMs should handle it

There are many tokens whose powers are too complex to describe in a tweet, let alone <50* characters.
{insert TDb plug here}

*50 is just an approximation, not a literal character limit
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
Please post TDb corrections in this thread .

I was under the impression during design that shadow shot could hit independent of the bow, the token db makes it clear now but I guess we all read things differently.

As a Grind DM, I saw a lot of these on the table.

I, too, was under the impression they only added to the total if the Ranger's primary shot hit, and that's how I ran it.

If it turns out that I'm wrong and it should have hit independently, then I apologize for the multiple times I shorted Ranges on their damage tally.

I hope it makes up for this a little if I tell you that I kinda (well, always) counted the Charm as having hit if the Main shot did, rather than doing a separate AC check to see whether it was actually a hit on its own. Just made my combats run a little faster ; )
