TOPIC: Change in Ghost Policy

Change in Ghost Policy 5 years 10 months ago #13

I like it but don’t want GenCon changed now that I have my 5 man teams all arranged and paid for. If the ghost max reassure dropped to 10 after already paid and expecting 18-19, my groups may fall apart and isn’t there a fee for returning tickets?

For Origins I like it... but this year won’t be ghosting... already in ten man r7ns and no spare time.

as per Jeffs first post

At this time there is no change to how ghosting will be done at Gen Con. We gotta wait and see what happens in July before anything can be decided.

so you should be fine for this year. the talk is about Origins.

At this time there is no commitment to keep it the same either.

Is the electronic ticketing the possible issue with ghosting at gen con? I'm currently sitting on three tickets for three different runs at gen con. The plan was to still have 2 people do two of the runs and ghost the third ticket if I couldn't find someone who eanted to just go through the dungeon. The third set will probably be returned once we are there due to not wanting system credit and already having our fill of the astral run from origins.
Fall down......Go boom!

Returning at the convention provides you system credit.

I think you can have it refunded to the method of purchase minus the "restocking fee".

Generic ti costs are system credit only.... all ticket refunds must be done one half hour prior to the event and on site to the ticket holder and to the method of payment used to purchase the tickets.

I like this origins ghosting policy. I think it discourages ghosting enough that it wont be abused, but doesnt punish players too harshly for a no-show friend or less-than-10 run.

When it comes to this being an ongoing policy (assumimg that is the intention), perhaps it would be good to clarify that 'while a policy like this will be in place in the future, TD may adjust the specifics as costs & demand change over time'. That would make it clear that as cost of runs change or value of treasure, TD can adjust the cap as needed. Of course, something like this will probably wait until after Origins this year...see how it goes.

I expect that the issue is gencon policy. Similar to how it is technically against gencon policy for me to use a ticket purchased on my wifes account (without her there). And with the new electronic tickets, the question comes up 'will gencon provide functionality to accommodate situations that go against gencon policy?' Or maybe they will change the policy to be a bit more lenient?

What if jeff wants to allow ghosting as allowed previously, but it is up to gencon to make it even possible, due to the new electronic tickets? ...and gencon wont have a final answer until July? No great solutuon there.

I still question who at GenCon had the bright idea to test their electronic ticket system out on one of the most complex events first instead of starting with the simpler events.

GenCon seems easy to me. The electronic ticket holder shows up, collects the wristbands, and distributes them as they see fit. The question is just: how far in advance can you get the bands?

I’m sure it was done with Jeff’s consent.

And it’s probably the “New York, New York” approach: “if I can make it there, I’d make it anywhere...”
