Remember everyone can equip up to 3 charms and 5 ioun stones. There are even some items which allow you to equip more than that.

I currently, through draws, trading, and buying of tokens, have equipped a:
  • Charm of Health
  • Charm of Heroism
  • Fiendish Charm

And
  • Ioun Stone Charming Cabochon
  • Ioun Stone Garnet Cube
  • Ioun Stone Beryl Prism
  • Ioun Stone Emerald Prism
  • Ioun Stone Lodestone Sphere

The Emerald Prism and Lodestone Sphere I definitely feel I could change out. Though if I get any of treasure enhancers, I'll have to swap out my Cloak of Many Pockets as well.

The emerald is only useful if you are underwater. So yeah I would get rid of that.

The Lodestone has limited use.

Well, for now they are the only 5 Ioun Stones I have XD But I will keep that in mind. I'd like to get a Silver Nugget and an Onyx Cube, but I won't be able to afford any new tokens for a while ^^;

Welcome to our world! A few words of caution...it's a lot to take in all at once. Take a breath every once in a while and just enjoy your situation. It's easy to get caught-up in chasing tokens and can lead to burn-out. In a nutshell, take your time exploring each layer TD has to offer and you will have a great time.

Agreed!

My first year I spent $23 on tokens and did two runs.

My second year I spent $32 on tokens and did four runs.

My third year I spent $250 on tokens before GenCon... then did five runs.... and then $16k by the end of the year.

Let's just say that it gets worse from there :) But I suspect most serious players level out at $1k to $2k per year. And of course there are tons of more casual players that spend $250 or less per year on tokens.

Yeah, Kirk and his site was an enormous help to me when I started too. You'll soon realize that the TD community is the absolute best. No matter what your question, someone here will know the answer and be happy to help.

These are the kinds of experiences I love to hear about! Welcome to the game, and enjoy yourself! Those of us that spend the majority of our time behind the scenes really love to hear that it has made a positive impression on someone!

See you again soon! Bring your friends! It's even more fun with friends! It's like a Hibachi, you know? XD

Trent, I was just wondering how difficult it was for you to write that very nice post and not plug your own token website -- truly a class act.

Daldega, I hope you have also found the forum token stores. They are good references for when you can afford to buy more tokens.

No problem; I put a lot of time and effort into it and love to hear when people have a good experience. I just sent a nice package out to you this morning.

That's nice of you to say. And yeah, the forum stores are great. I've gotten plenty from them!

But I was just speaking the truth. And Kirk can back me up for sure. When I first started, I called upon him a bunch, emailed him a ton, and did all kinds of trades and purchases with him. He was a huge help and I'd dare say that well over the majority of my collection started with him.

But many people were helpful, and I won't be able to list them all, but when I first started Kirk, MasterED, Lazlo, Mike Steele, Raven, bpsymington, Brad Mortensen, Ro-gan, Matthew Hayward, and plenty of other people went out of their way to be helpful. I'd like to imagine people did the same when they started, and I'll do the same when new people start too.

:)

And almost all of the above people either have a forum store and/or a website, and from my point of view it's a good thing for the players & collectors to have choices. The more the merrier!
