Or perhaps a second rogue box for another clue in the room.

That is an interesting idea. Have we had rooms in the past with more than one rogue box?

I can't think of such an occasion.

Sadly I forgot to use my psionic to feathfall.

I can tell you the trapped player didn't always get a chance to wake up and become free'd.
I was hit then subsequently killed in a following round.
I and i think all of my party had freedom of movement.

I was trying to figure out how much damage I "actually" took. I know damage dealt was 168 but i'm certain i reduced a fair amount.

oh yeah... ok party, WTF, 5 crits to my face? Really... :pinch:

As for who got chosen, on my first run, I choose myself. I don't know why but I knew something was up and so I put myself near the DM. On the second run we had all done it so we had a volunteer, mostly because we wanted to see if we could hit the paladin's 42 AC. Turns out we could or we're bad at math.

I love this monster and its fun, especially for folks that have never seen it before.

In my defense I only hit you once... on your left hand. In your defense I happily took your 3 women under my wings of protection until you were resurrected. B)

After the first run where our druid waxed the party, I recall everyone being out for a druid smakdown.

In all the commotion and heat of battle, I lost track of how many arrows I had left. Even now I can't recall with clarity if I hit the cube or the body in the cube. B) But I know for sure that the DM in the room seem to want to hestitate in announcing the damage and just skipping to ya dead.

Per my discussion with Jeff Room 6 was specifically designed with the TDC veteran crowd in mind, expecting players to run multiple times. It was intentionally harder than normal.

3 of the players in the first run Saturday to solve room 6 had already puzzled out pieces of the solution to the puzzle before the change to the word open and general consensus among them is the puzzle would have been solved without the additional change.

The change to underline the word open seemed to clue everyone into the solution, I think each party that day I was with solved the revised puzzle.

All told a very good room. I would be happy to see a single non-GenCon released puzzle appear at the newly added conventions with this level of difficulty; something to challenge those players who attend multiple events.

Oooooh, how about a room with more than one Rogue box, where one is a mimic/trap? I know they are meant to represent the skill test and not necessarily a physical object, but the surprise would be a neat twist. Maybe even make it a different room or box each day?

The paladin's AC was irrelevant, as was the cube's. Slide onto the cub'e outline, it's a hit. Slide onto the player, it's a hit.

In the future you might want to have the damage to the player mitigated, it only make sense that the cube would have to be hit as well taking some of the damage. Now if the monster was using the player as a human shield that's one thing but it clearly encases the player so its got to take something.
Sweet a combat room, we won't take damage!

I am really looking forward to the room seven write up.

After four runs we finally figured out how to defeat/solve it without taking out Death's Minion... but on our fifth run I guess Jeff changed it so everyone would have a more consistent experience.

It was still a blast!

secret cow room? I almost fell for it until I saw it as Incognito who added it as the eith room, not the original poster! Lol!

Death's Minion?

What minion?

Did I miss something fun?

We just grabbed the hammer and held it aloft. I felt a little like Thor.

The cube did take damage if the player was hit as well. At least it was supposed to.

On N and HC level, the engulfed character would not die, but would be reduced to one hit point. On NM s/he could die.

I will explain, hopefully tomorrow night (Sat.). Going to a friend's during the day for International Tabletop Day.

I understand there were some concerns/upset feelings about room 7 for some. I take responsibility for any disappointment.

When you are in the screen to create your post, look in the toolbar (the one with the different sized fonts and colours).... there's a square blue-green picture with a grey chainlink icon. If you click that, you can cut & paste the URL for the image you want (which you have copied from your browser bar earlier) into the section which says "URL" - Just make sure you only have one set of "http://" - you may need to delete the one which is pre-filled for you in that URL bar.

Once you've got the image address in the bar, hit the "insert" button, and it'll do the code for you.

At least, it should : )
