TOPIC: eBay auction HUGE lot

eBay auction HUGE lot 2 years 9 months ago #1

Someone put an auction up with 1,400+ tokens on eBay. Starting bid of $999 99.

eBay link

This is NOT my auction, just posting it here since some of you would likely be interested.

If this belongs in ‘off topic’ can an admin move it please?

It always annoys me on these when they don't photograph every token.

Just going by what I saw... nowhere near $1000... but who knows.

Or even make a list of the tokens. I can't tell if this is lazy or a scam. If they made a list of the ingredients it might be worth bidding on. But as is it looks too uncertain as to what you are getting.
NOW this is the Law of the Jungle — as old and as true as the sky;
And the Wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the Wolf that shall break it must die.

As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk the Law runneth forward and back —
For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.

To me it looks like they might be flipping estate sale/ unclaimed storage unit items. if the $1k plus 90 for shipping isn't doing it for you they also have three 20 year old Glade candles for $18 plus 13 shipping or two keyring bottle openers for $25+9.

Agree its probably an estate sale.

There doesn't appear to be value there, to be sure.

If that's the case they have at least done enough research to know that trade tokens, monster bits, and gold are "valuable" But the big pile contains some light blue, so you would have thought those would have been pictured as well. Also they managed to pick out that Turkey Leg, Golden Apple of Salvation, Ducks, and Relic Fragments are also something worth noting. But then in the big pile are Soul Jar and Lamp of the Efreeti both visible. Feels staged to me.

Agree I don't see anywhere near $1000 here.

After tax and shipping it's already close to $1,200 with no bids. Seems staged, I see an Eldritch Runestone in there, Spider figurine but this seems a little convenient. Fun risk though!

My numbers may be a little off, but it looks like just 13k gold, not counting the wooden tokens. At $12/1000, it is a bit over $150. I used one of the more recent auction prices for the Trade tokens, and it is $220. I priced the Aragonite at $25 and the Fleece at $60 to get to that number. Looks like 48 Monster bits and at $7/bit, it should be $336. Just those get you to $700 or so. You'd have to see $400 or more from the remaining stuff just to break even. I am super curious as to what the rest of those tokens are, but it isn't in my budget to pay and find out, lol. If anyone does, please let us know what you found :)

With your permission, I might "message the seller" and let them know what you've found.

Feel free to do so. If you can motivate them to provide better pictures of the big pile of stuff, they may drum up more interest. I know there is an uncommon Lamp and a few other completion tokens mixed in, as well as all of the blue backed stuff.

I asked how many of the light blue tokens there are, but no answer as yet. Only been a little while since I asked.

That’s assuming paying roughly “individual retail” for a lot.

That said, it’d be fun to buy and then raffle the tokens off. like $1 a ticket - you’ll get a token, might be GF, might be masterwork arrow.
