TOPIC: 2019 $8k Auction (Success)

Howdy everyone! I want to go ahead and thank everyone who will eventually participate as we all have fun and see if we can't finally satisfy those insatiable token addictions. You all rock! With that said, here we go.

Auction Rules:

In order for the auction to be successful, the grand total of all highest bids must meet or exceed $7500. If we end up falling just short of the goal, I may still choose to go forward.

Bidding is standard eBay style. What that entails is:

• Bids are sent to me via PM
• You must bid at least the current bid + the bid increment.
  • Bid increment on items less than $10: 25 cents
  • Bid increment on items greater than or equal to $10 and less than $100: $1
  • Bid increment on items greater than or equal to $100: $5
• The winning bid amount is the lesser of the 2nd highest bid + the bid increment and the highest bid.
• I will post the current winning bid amount and a pseudonym of the bidder periodically.
• In the event that multiple bidders all bid the same highest amount, the earliest bid will win it.
• You are free to bid on any number of items for which multiples are available. Your bid will always apply to the lowest priced ones.
• Current bids are shown. Minimums (bids without a name) must be met and are not included in the current total.
• Full disclosure/Transparency: I have entered a few bids for myself under my username (Azzy) automatically at my maximum bid. I can be outbid just like anyone else and I will never add new bids of my own after the auction starts. Additionally, my personal bids will always be considered the most recent bids in the cases where two matching max bids are exceeded by a new bid (and thus the first to be outbid).

This auction style rewards early bidding, as you win ties and people must raise the bid by at least the bid increment to take it from you. Since the price is set by the 2nd highest bidder, you enter your top bid initially and may never overpay.

Last accepted bids will be at 11:59 Mountain Standard Time (UTC -7) on Thursday, March14th (effectively Midnight, March 15th), however:

• If there are technical difficulties that prevent using the TD forums or messaging systems within the last hour of the auction all open items will be extended 24 hours.
• If a new highest bidder is found on an item within 1 hour of the initial end auction time the bidding on those item(s) will be extended an additional 24 hours, open to all bidders.

Payment is required through PayPal via friends and family- the bid amount plus shipping is the amount that must arrive in my account after fees. All winning bids will have 48 hours after close of auction to provide payment & your choice of PYP (if applicable). Any unpaid item(s) after alloted time will defer their winning bid and the next highest bidder will be offered the item at their maximum bid price of the item(s).

Shipping on winning bids with destinations in the US:

• $4 for 9 or fewer tokens/items
• $8 for 10 -170 tokens(USPS small flat rate)
• $14 for 171-1000 tokens(USPS medium flat rate)
• $19 for 1000-1550 tokens (USPS large flat rate)
• International shipping is at the actual cost of shipping.
• No shipping costs if you would prefer to arrange to pick up your tokens at either 2019 Origins or 2019 Gencon.
• Free shipping if we end up exceeding the goal and hitting $8,000.

Shipping will occur within 1 week of receiving the tokens from True Dungeon, with the exception of the signed adventure modules which will ship out after they arrive.

I believe the bids for the rare bags should have pelor's bids at $45 and alchemist ink should have tiamats bids at $1.75

If not, then phoenix should ask to have his bids moved to the cheaper items; getting rare bags for only $44 instead of $46, and inks for $1.50 instead of $2.

Ha ha, good catch. You know the goofiest thing? I looked at the date, went "cool, right after Valentine's day" and didn't process the problem, despite the fact that I only just finished off a pile of discounted Valentine's day candy (incidentally, I initially though the whole "reese's pieces inside a reese's cup" was a dumb gimmick but now I swear by them).

You're absolutely right, I was just in the midst of working through the backlog of PMs (serves me right for posting this right before going to sleep!) and was periodically submitting my edits in case random acts god, cats stepping on power strips, internet issues, etc. struck in the midst of working.


Either way, I do believe I'm made it through all the initial bids! Prolly gunna tally up and see where we're at.

After the flurry of initial bids, the dust settles and it seems we are already about 2/3rds of the way towards the final goal by the afternoon of the first day- and every item hasn't even been accounted for quite yet.

I suppose we will still have to see which gods or goddesses shall achieve the greatest victories in the end.

Another day of bidding and some more steady progress. Current totals have been updated and we are now ~73% of the way towards our final goal! We've also just broken the $100 mark on PYPs, so it might be a decent point to remind people that bids on items >= $100 are in $5 increments. Thank you all for participating!

Finally, I have added a brief clarification to the auction rules. The additional clarification is in bold, though in brief it simply notes that your bids will always have advantage over mine with regards to items with multiple lots:

Am I correct that the bids on trade goods are per trade good, not for the entire group, right? That is, Darkwood plank at $1 per unit not $1 for 10 of them...

You're absolutely correct- it is per trade good. I had debated bundling them together in lots, but ultimately figured I'd just let people go for the specific numbers they needed to complete their slew of transmutes.
