Or for that matter does a Cow (pronounced Ko) eat grass? Or do you shoot arrows from a bow (pronounced like wow)? The English language allows for either pronunciation really :), nonetheless I am fairly sure that both Ed Greenwood and R.A. Salvatore pronounce it like it rhymes with now. I know they did not invent it, but the two of them did some seriously extensive work in the field and probably would know its pronunciation better than I . =D

I still remember that it took playing Gauntlet (the new version) for me to actually learn how to pronounce Chimera correctly.

Reading a bit more, according to the pronunciation guide "OW always rhymes with “cow", so the first pronunciation is indeed like "drowsy".”

The article also states "When two or more pronunciations are given in the listing, the first is most common or preferred, and the other(s), alternate(s)."

So, both are OK, but the "drowsy" one is preferred. So you don't have to donkeypunch anyone henwy.

Once the dictionaries said "nucular" was an acceptable pronunciation for "nuclear," I gave up on them.
I think this change was made before the current occupier of the White House made it so much more noticeable. It's not the preferred pronunciation, just an option.

Uh, I mean, "wasn't this change made before the current occupier of the White House made it so much more noticeable?"
I'd like to give two suggestions on your podcast. The biggest one I can think of is take your time. Part of what makes a great podcast to me is if it's consistant. So if you need to break a disscussion in multiple parts feel free to spread it out over several episodes over the course of a month. This makes me clamor for the next episode all the more. This can also help strech some of your ideas out. After all one episode a week or two helps keep TD alive through the year.

The second one is also about time. Set a time limit and work to stick with it. So far it looks like you've done that and I'd encourage you to continue. This does not necessarilly mean they all need to be a certain length. If you've only got 15 mins of material then run with it.

That said Awsome idea. I'm a podcast junky and listen/watch them regularly. Sites I most get them from are:

www.twit.tv - Site of Leo Leoporte. Lovable host of the Screensavers and Call for Help back in the Tech TV days. He has a lot of podcasts that range from technology to being a parent in the digital age. A lot of good stuff.

www.webbalert.com - Morgan Webb's new site that gives a 5 min daily video of tech news and stories and gives links to all that she talks about. You may remember her from the X-Play show on Tech TV and G4TV.

www.DL.tv - Video Technology show that varies from computers to tv and everything in between.

Maybe I'm a bit obvious as to my intrests.

Leo's TWiT and TWiL are on the long list of casts I listen to. I have about 15 or so that I listen to regularly and usually have them on when I am working on my house for "company".

I completely agree with your comments on consistency and timing. We are working toward that. We have already broken several "rules" in that we do not have a good intro down yet, and we often start in without introducing the players, but I am hopeful that will develop over time.

I am also hopeful at some time that we will have a consistent format, but until we do some more strategic development, each cast will probably be a single topic with an aside or two, rather than specific segments. E.g. Tech talk, event news, tokens, Q&A, etc.

I think it will be really cool to record some during off season builds, the actual event setup, party interviews, etc. All possibilities for the future.

Dave

Ha ha! Great stuff.

I listened to them all today between my commutes, lunch... and okay, one or two while I was working. Nice job. Though I think you went over one minute. :-)

A good topic that often comes up on the forums is around volunteering. (I think this was mentioned in one form or another earlier)

Volunteering for TD
- the different volunteer areas (tavern, bluehands, admin, player coaches, DMs)
- what TD looks for in each position
- part time vs full time (what you do and what you get)

There might be enough there for a couple podcasts. The DM discussion itself could probably easily ramble on for 15 or 20 when you start discussing things like:
- the % of returning DMs and totals
- training the DMs go through before and during the con
- what TD looks for in DMs
- how DMing in TD is not the same as table top D&D
- hours during the con
- how to become one of the few, the crazy, a TD-DM
- the evolution of DMing

Keep up the great work. Lots of fun. I look forward to more.

We could talk about DMs, but it might be nice to include the DM trainer in on the conversation. You up for a guest spot?
