This topic comes up every now and again.

But there really seems to be a lack of consistency with the "minimum age requirement (no kids restriction)" that TD officially has.

On the one hand, you have some TD player parents who "follow the rules" and have their kids wait until they are officially old enough.

On the other, you have TD player parents who buy full runs so their kids can play.

But even in the latter case, it is not only the other party members who have to deal with the kid. The DM's and volunteers may also have to deal with extra stress due to you breaking the rules.

During Friday or Saturday evening of GenCon, I entered the office at Midnight (to turn in my tickets) and saw a volunteer (whose job was to count tickets). It was already 15 minutes past her shift but she was apparently stuck because someone had left a stroller and baby and she was stuck taking care of the baby. The way she explained it, some players had asked if they could leave their stroller there and apparently did not mention that there was a baby in the stroller (they probably thought the baby would just sleep through the whole thing).

Later on, I talked briefly with some higher-ups and they did mention that the parents were volunteers who were known (so they weren't random strangers).

But essentially, some random volunteer got stuck babysitting, which seems rather unfair.

It was a heck of a lot of fun.
Its always amusing to see the DM's face when they see 5 people walk in on nightmare. It most certainly was 20% more fantastic! :)

-- on a side note, I will likely be putting together Team Thundercats.
Thunderstones will be a requirement and the ability to strike a pose is a must. :)

I had a ton of great moments this year.

The one that actually stands out most notably for me was Zephyr last room fighting back the wyverns. Both boards slide at the same time and both land exactly in the eye.
Sweet a combat room, we won't take damage!

and for the record, we did have the bard, wizard, and druid as the sub-class version.

and druid summoner is amazing. summon a cave bear and slide for some damage while casting a spell for more damage or 2x healing...oh, and bracelets of the zephyr let me ALSO cast summon swarm to daze the medusa. and I could have cast a stone to flesh scroll as a free action with the shield of the scholar (but didn't need to). she didn't stand a chance.

and that reminds me: thank you to the DMs during this run for doing a great job when we threw 3 sub-classes at you at once. you adapted to crazy new abilities very well and kept the combat moving.

Another of my favorite runs had me turned to stone, then scroll of stone to flesh was used to bring me back. On my last attack, I slay the Medusa only to fail my save check and turn back to stone.

Then I got to watch as my party wipes in the last room. I say if you are going to fail... It should be epic.

Now that is certainly an epic fail! and a good lesson. Never use your recovery scrolls until the end of combat. ;)
You can't fix stupid but you can TPK it.

I feel the same way about healing sometimes, dead monsters usually deal no damage and you can heal up after combat. Now somebody gets low and needs a heal to live? That's a different story.
