TOPIC: Any luck with using generics?

So i ditched my two True Dungeon tickets a while back because of a scheduling conflict and now I find myself wanting to go on at least one run. So my question is, how likely would I be able to drop into a slot with generics? Any help would be appreciated, ideally I'm looking for a FRI/SAT early AM slot(s).

Is hit or miss. Just check in as early as possible to get on the wait list, then cross those fingers.

Other option is to look here. There are many on the forum advertising that they have open slots. Look in the category of the event you want to run for example Category: Into the Viper's Pit (Combat).

My first true dungeon, 2 years ago was all generics. got in to 3 dungeons, all different. Be early and be flexible about where you go.

Only one of my 4 runs last year was a purchased ticket, the rest were all generics. The best times are Thursday morning, Friday morning, and Sunday morning.

How do Generics work with TD? For instance, I bought 9 of the 10 tickets for my run (9:02 p.m. Friday) and now a 10th friend is coming. Can he show up with us with generics and get in, or will he have to check in way earlier in case the guy with the 10th ticket is a no-show?

Your friend will likely have to get on the wait list way early and then hope the 10th person doesn't show. Odds are good he's flocked. The staff might let him line-cut the other people already in the queue perhaps, since he's running with people he already knows, but even then it all depends on someone not showing and eating a $48 ticket.

I had another friend in the same position last year and hoped for a spot but everyone showed up. We asked the group of what they thought about running with 11 people and everyone was okay with it so we paid with generics and ran with 11 people.

Every time a party has more than 10 people, we add a duck to the dungeon.

I suggest you also have cash on you. If someone bought a full run and still has a couple open spots, they might go to the wait list and see if anyone there wants to buy the ticket...and i doubt they accept generics.

*EDITED* In the past, sometimes people with a spare ticket would to go to the Wait list folks, and offer to sell their ticket for cash to someone on the list (if they realize they don't want/need the run, or the friend they bought the ticket for isn't gonna show, or if they end up in a scheduling conflict.) However, this has caused problems, and the Wait List should not be selling tickets for players, or helping to arrange these sales.

Still, having cash on hand is not a bad idea if you are standing near the TD area, and someone shouts "My friend isn't gonna show for our run. Anyone want to buy his ticket?"

It's not uncommon for people with a spare ticket to go to the Wait list folks, and offer to sell their ticket for cash if they realize they don't want/need the run, or the friend they bought the ticket for isn't gonna show, or if they end up in a scheduling conflict. Having cash on hand for that situation is a good idea.

I tried that last year and it did not work so well. I had and extra ticket and placed it with the wait list person. I told the wait list person that if they were unable to dispose of the ticket, to hold it and I would come get it at the start time to run it as a mule. But at the start time in strolls a player who paid with generics and I was hosed. When I ran this scenario by Jeff, he told me that the wait list people were not supposed to be in the ticket selling business.

You might want to check this with TPTB before you try this.
