TOPIC: Trading Tokens Here

The "special" tokens may have been a limited edition thing. In other words, Jeff may or may not continue to give out collectible tokens (not actually intended for play) for volunteer service. I do not know how many he made or if he plans on doing it again. For instance he did not give any out at SoCal. There might be an Indy volunteer who is willing to trade, but most I have talked to plan on hanging on to them as mementos, in the spirit (I believe) that they were actually given.

So...
1. I do not know if Jeff will continue giving out the special purple print tokens as "thank you's".

2. I am not sure there is any specific volunteer requirement for them. (e.g. you work 20 hrs before you get one)

3. I am not sure there are any of the "regen" ones left to give out.

I realize that the tokens have become a collectable item, but there may be some that are just not available any more.

I just do not want you to get your hopes up.

This of course is all pure speculation, I really have no idea what is in Jeff's head, nor would I probably want to... ;)

So in a few years some rich kid who owns his own company and is obsessed with playing games will stalk into True Dungeon. He'll sniff at those in his 'party' and declare he is going to take the dungeon by himself, that since he owns ALL THREE BLUE-E....ahem...RING OF THREE WISHES, nothing can stop him.

Be sure to throw the spiky-haired short kid with the weird taste in male jewelry in with him though, just to be sure the world doesn't end.

No ever said life was fair....

Although, I would imagine some GM would envoke the old adage of being careful what you wished for... :smt002

Not actually intended for play? Dave? Are you talking about the Rings of Regen? I saw one at Indy, and they looked like legitimate magic items.

I didn't even need the Spikey-haired kid comment Cinnabar to get who you were talking about.

I wonder who else got the reference? :)

Xeon, why not just try some healing potions. You can find those easy enough.

And next time threaten to kill the Cleric if they won't give you any healings. ;)

That's not very Paladin like though! (killing a celeric)

And the wench in the tavern had none to be sold when I went through.

SOOOO, that's why I'm looking around.

We had the ones for 1 HP at our tavern.

As for the Cleric, it's not very Cleric like to not heal his party members. It might even be an act of evil, thus giving the Paladin a perfect reason for killing the Cleric.

It's an evil Cleric !!

I don't think that taking cracks at rich kids is a very fair thing to do.

If people didn't buy tokens, then there would shortly be no true dungeon (or at least not as good of one) I figure that everytime I go I should at least pick up a bag or two, just to help support them. I'm not saying everyone should do so, lord knows that it could get expensive, but we should support them however we can.

That being said.

Out here (Arizona/California) there are an awful lot of Famous Gamers that either live, or hang out, in this very area. Rick Loomis of Flying Buffalo, Jeff (forgive me, I cant remember his last name) from Playroom, people like will wheaton. If anything, I've noticed these folks are more conservative and polite than other gamers when I run across them. It took four games of nuclear war before I realized I was sitting across from Rick Loomis, the creator, he was so nice and low key.

I do agree with the previous statement though, that munchkin's should beware what they wish for. The GM's at TD seem to have quite a lot of leeway within the modules themselves and I think they could easily deal with some of the power gamers that come through. However, myself being a token hoarder, (i trade cards, money, and anything else to garner the precious lil disks) I tend to over bring tokens to each event. However, I try and use them creatively and not power gaming-ly (if thats a word) such as mirroring corridors, placing breakables in map cases, etc. I don't consider that munchkin-ing (another great word) just smart play. In real life, I doubt anyone would just go charging about a dungeon all full of pep and vinnegar, without even looking ahead or sending a scout (no, monsieur rogue, you FIRST) to read the lay of the terrain.

It's all probably a moot point though, as if I got one of those treasured collectible disks (the rings, the precious) I would never sell it, regardless the price or inducement, nor trade it. Wizkids gave all their volunteers for a while a Santa from each of their game lines (Mage Knight, Crimson Skies, etc) and may still do so. While I volunteered for them, I got three such. I still have them, though they go for upwards of $20-$30 each to some collectors. It's a principle thing. I am almost certain that NO one person could get all three.

So why worry?

Now.. for some magic weapons.... That I could give me soul for... Especially a dagger.

I think they desperately need to increase the number of heals available at the taverns.

At certain points at SoCal, the tavern was stocked out by token hoarders (such as myself, though I never did that myself) and later groups had to get by with few or no heals. Perhaps also, the tavern sequence could be extended so that clerics/mages could "pick" their spells and if a given char wanted to, they could just bring nothing BUT heals with them (I cant remember what all the cleric came with, but I know I would have changed the wizard's spells around a lil to suit me) instead of having to hoard scrolls.

Also, perhaps we could get some of the higher heals available to us, as well as perhaps higher buffs like stone skin, barkskin, steelskin, might, haste, etc. I understand that the dungeon is currently "low-level" with level 3 characters, but it could still be useful.

If anyone has any heals they would be willing to part with, please drop me a ringle.

Although we used a couple healings, we found that we didn't even need them. We could have made it through without any heals.

Not trying to brag or anything. ;)

Of course we didn't greedy and try to take everything either. :D
