Are you going to add any comments about the effects of out of print tokens, like the Scroll of Detect Secret Doors?

George

PS. Only reason I ask is that I have 2 of them.

George,

I could and it makes sense to do so. The only problem though is that it is much less deterministic and unlike the current set which has a price anchor (i.e. bags are still available), the older set, being out of print have a value that is largely based on the secondary market with no upper limit. At the lower limit, you could of course, compare to a token of similar function.

I was thinking that as a rough guide that a common might be worth about double what a comparably priced token that is in print might cost. Rare and very rare might be triple and quadruple due to their relative scarcity. Gold and gems might just be worth their face value, except to collectors. What do other people think?

I was actually aiming the question more at the FAQ than at the pricing guide. Do you get 30 seconds of UV lamp or do you get it for the whole 12 minutes?

George,

Of course, it all makes sense now. I was incorrectly under the assumption that we were in the Token Price Guide feedback thread. :)

I am working on a 2004 guide as well. It may take a little longer as I am in the recovery process from the first effort. The graphics will not be as nice since we do not have the pretty scans to work from.

There may even be a 2003 version somewhere down the line as there was at least one token (Scroll of light) that is still heavily used and probably will continue to be.

Jeff and I had even talked about an "Ultra Rare" guide showing the special "thank you" tokens and their descriptions just to make the die-hard collectors out there have something to pine away for.

Give me some time, but I should have something together in a few weeks.

Another Elixir of Life question. Suppose you die. Do you play the token yourself, or does someone else have to play the token as if they are pouring the potion down your throat? Example, you fall into a chasm and die. Can you play the token if you were the one holding it? How do you drink a potion if you are dead?

Good point. I expect another player has to administer it...

and if you fall down a chasm, odds are good another player won't be able to get to you anyway. Even an elixer of life might have some downfalls. Hmmm...

Yes, that's what I'm thinking. If you die in regular combat, I can see you being ressurected at the end of hostilities when it is assumed a group member could search your body, find the elixer, and administer it. I suppose they could try to do so in combat, but it would take them a round where they could not attack and may leave them open to an AOO.

Yes, someone else in the party has to administer it. It still can be your token, but there must be at least one alive and functioning player to resurrect you.

Dave,

There was a question earlier about using the Elixir to restore yourself to full HPs. If this is not allowed, could self inflicted wounds be used to kill yourself and then the Elixir used?

Thanks,
Douglas

But what if after you kill yourself, your party decides not to bring you back. And they keep it for themselves.
