TOPIC: Rod of Seven Parts questions???

Re: Rod of Seven Parts questions??? 15 years 7 months ago #25

I sprung this one on Dave. =D

More info will be posted later in the Token Guide after I talk to Dave about it and he explains to me in a gentle way that my idea is bad -- and we change it to something better.

But I can tell you this: Check out your AD&D DMGs for a sneak peak. This sucker is a 7-year combo item!

Ok, I've checked every DMG that I have and none have +1 HP as a power. The weakest I saw was CLW 1/day. Which version do you have Jeff?

Sorry, the powers won't be the same, but it will work much like the Rod did back in the day -- meaning several parts together make one good power.

Oh man....what I would give for the rod parts! In all of the tokens I bought a ticket did not show up for me though. Not in the cards I guess!

Does that mean the Rod will still have the powers of each segment, plus some bonus power for having all seven parts?

folks while I'm sure that Jeff has an aswer in mind... this is the first year of what has been stated is a 7 year project. you're asking for details that may not be worked out, or that he may not want to release. I realize this is cool news and all, but seriously...give the man some time!

When all 7 pieces are fully assembled the token will self destruct and mini Smakdowns will run around your feet grabbing any tokens dropped during a dungeon run. They only answer to their leader (think mini-Marios). They are like your own personal secret service...they'll take a bullet for you, hit refresh on your computer 890 times when trying to buy tickets, stealthly snatch tokens from unsuspecting players, etc. They're dead useful.

OK, honey...I announced it....figure out how to make it happen!

In all seriousness, I didn't even know about this. He always has a few tricks up his sleeves that he doesn't even tell Dave or I.

Lori

You got the finger from Jeff.

I'll go on a quick tangent as far as random powerful tokens popping up in strange places.

My combat group had a noon-ish run on Thursday, and one of my party members (who is not a token guy at all) pulled a Medallion of Greyhawk in Room 5. He didn't really know of it's value until our generous tokenholic Glendavar/James's jaw dropped to the floor. That was pretty cool to see. =D
He didnt take the 10 bucks did he?

what? no. my story was in first person for a reason ;) . henwy mentioned someone asking and the deal not happening, i elaborated in case it was me he was referring to. i knew i wasnt going to sell it (even if a dealer would offer enough, that just means someone else will give me more), i just wanted to see what the offer would be...as stated before, i was more than disappointed, i was angry that they would try to rip someone off that much.

That is my one concern about people buying and selling for cash. I know the local "Magic:The gathering" store tends to pay VERY low prices (like 10% of the value) when buying cards from locals. When paying golds I dont mind paying the market price or even more when buying from a player. I am very greatful that TD supplied lamanated copies of the price guide in the trading area. It allows new players to realize I was paying a reasonable price.
