I'm actually unclear on something. It grants a "relic-level power" to the person it is soulforged to. Does it grant the exact same relic-level power to everybody, or does it vary from person to person? Upon my initial read, I thought it would vary, but practically it seems it would have to be the same power for everybody.

I took it to mean that it would be exactly the same relic power for everyone, but I agree it's not 100% spelled out.

  1. Mark of Enlightenment becomes active in 2026.
  2. Since it's been designated as a new slot, there will likely be other tattoo-slot tokens.
  3. I don't understand what you mean by "identity".
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

The same can be said for literally every Relic ever created. All non-Legendary transmuted tokens have a window of opportunity to create.

The intention is that a Mark of Enlightenment gives the exact same power to all owners. The variations are only in the image on the token and the name at the bottom of the token.

Except new players can buy older relics after the transmute window closes. With this being Soulforged they cannot. Big difference there.

The difference being, a new player could purchase an older Relic on the secondary market and be able to use it's power. They couldn't do that with a soulforged Relic. They could buy it, but they wouldn't be able to use it's power.

For the record, I'm impartial about the idea. Yes, they will be harder to resell and new players won't be able to have them. But it's also a cool concept.

I mean, I don't have an Artifact, nor do I have a way to get one, and I'm surviving.

There are already 43 relics, and 34 Legendary tokens. And we'll keep getting more. I think missing out on one single relic-level power is not going to make some future player incapable of putting together an epic-level build.

As of right now, there are 43 Relics in the game. By 2026, there will almost certainly be over 50. I find it fascinating that there's this much tsuris over a hypothetical player coming into the game five years in the future who won't have access to this ONE Relic. You do you, I guess.

Or the fact that we're essentially just burning an equivalent of $1600-2000 on the aftermarket or more with no return should we ever decide to stop playing or run into a financial situation.

Yes, I think this is the bigger concern for some. And just like the new player argument, if you don't want to lose the aftermarket value you don't have to make a Mark. Your build will survive just fine.

The question is: Is a $1,600-2000 investment worth it to you to have a unique souvenir to commemorate your True Dungeon journey? Something to show the grandkids some day and look at and fondly to remember the good times. The one token you'll likely never sell off even when you decide to part ways with TD. Most of the people making these will have spent tens thousands on the game already and maybe even a hundred thousand or more anyway. Are you willing to invest in this unique personalized souvenir?

Oh and by the way, people have been asking Jeff for the ability to do this for a while. He is simply listening to his customers, like he almost always does.
