We do have a video of one of our bird playing with tokens. As I see it, if your cat has played enough to be a plausible level, the more the merrier

Many years ago, I had a bunch of tokens kept in a leather dice bag. I made the mistake of leaving it on an end table. One of my dogs thought, “leather looks yummy - the contents must be yummy too.”

He ate the bag itself and, unfortunately, several tokens. We were lucky they made him sick or it could have seriously harmed him. Never thought that could happen (dog eating tokens.) appa, yep, it can.

Check the highlighted sentence from Jeff's post. That's where the notion of 5 redemptions (turning in PTMs) per month came from. But as you said, it's been cleared up now.

Sorry - I feel like I am a little dense on this. Does this mean we can transmute 5 maps per month per person?

5 per month as a part of a transmute.

If your group has multiple players each one can make 5 maps but must submit their own seperate transmute box.

They can be combined on return shipping but it will require multiple transmute orders

That is correct Fred. You can send in transmutes for five per month per person. They must be redeemed at an in-person event. There is no limit on how many you can redeem (subject to supplies on hand).

I haven't counted my trade goods to know if I even want to make any, but could I submit an order for 5 each month, but instead of mailing them, bring all of those to skull con and swap 5 months worth of pirate treasure maps at once in person?

You can make (transmute the ingredients) for 5 each month either in-person or by mail. You can only redeem the Pirate's Treasure Maps at an in-person event. There is no limit on the number you can redeem. However, be considerate of others that also want to redeem them. TD has stated they would like everyone that wants to do these have a chance at them. Pirate's Treasure Maps are not redeemable by mail.

I am not an official source buy I followed this thread and postings closely. There is a difference between transmuting and redeeming.

Hmm, let me be more clear.
Let's say I decide I want to make 15 pirate treasure maps. I also only transmute in person (never by mail). Can I transmute 15 of them AT skull con? Either simply because it is in person and my total transmuted is less than the limit of 30 if I had done 5 each month?
OR can I put an order for 5 in January, 5 more in February, and 5 in march, but not mail them in. Simply holding the ingredients until June to exchange in person.
OR is this simply not allowed? And I can only transmute 5 at each con I attend, no more allowed without mailing?
