TOPIC: Cloak of Blending on a Bard

Cloak of Blending on a Bard 5 years 2 months ago #1

Hi,
I see several references to the Bard using a Cloak of Blending, however, I haven't found any official statement that the Bard could sing and provide the party a bonus while under the effect of the Cloak of Blending.

Is there an official statement on this that someone can point me to?

Thanks!

Here's the entry from the database.
tokendb.com/token/cloak-of-blending/

I think they key bit would be:

*An offensive action is defined as doing at least one of the following:
Attacking
Casting a damage-inflicting spell or scroll
Casting a spell or scroll that requires a magic/spell resistance check
Casting a spell or scroll that requires a saving throw

Correct. While bardsong could arguably be considered increasing other players’ damage, it does so indirectly. It is still that player doing the extra damage; the song just provides inspiration. Thus singing is NOT considered an offensive action. (There was another thread where this was confirmed by Druegar, but I’m too lazy to look for it.)

Bardsong is fully compatible with Cloak of Blending until and unless* there's a Bardsong variant that:
  • causes damage to a monster that hears it
  • requires a monster to make a magic/spell resistance check
  • requires a monster to make a saving throw

*there are no plans to do so
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

I’ve been told that my singing is pretty offensive. ;)
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

Not even close to the damage caused by Mongo being the Bard.

Maybe I've blocked it out, but my recollection is that he wasn't all that bad!
