Not certain why you think it needs to be a big file. That is size of the file when I have sent it. You realize you are only sending them the build not the entire app right?

I have the app and the only thing I can do is set up characters. I can't seem to find anyway to roll dice or anything. Am I missing something?

After you've built your character, us the "Calculate" button (upper right) to see a consolidated view with total HP, saves, etc. From there you'll see the 'virtual td' button (top center).

When trying to use the app on my LG phone, I can't even download the attachment to my phone from the email, it says that I don't have an app that can open that type of file.

Can anyone give me any tips on how to get these files to my group in a way that they can open them on their apps Saturday?

The file is just a text file with lines like

Slotname:Token Name

So that's the right size.

I'm not see the "Calculate" button (upper right).

I create the character I have on top the following buttons Done, Email, Stats.

It was the Stats button!

I believe the iphone app is calculate, while the android version is stats.

What? You are seeing differently that what I see. When I roll I get:
Melee to hit
RESULT
Melee Damage
RESULT With all damages (from strength or straight damage bonuses) applied.

Maybe what device are you using and what orientation you have that device?

I just noticed you said it only has a Roll D20 button. You should have a range attack and melee attack button as well as a saving throw button.

Is there a difference between a ranged attack roll and a d20 roll? If the ranged atack roll is d10+10, is a 1 still a critical miss? If so, then I want to roll the d20 for my sliding spells, which are an auto-hit for me unless I roll a 1. a d20 roll would have only a 5% chance of getting a 1, instead of a 10% chance.

The system does 1d10+10 for attacks. In this instance you would be better to roll 1d20 from the main menu for your sliding attacks as you can not crit but you can auto fail on a natural 1.

Per answers previously (from Jeff I think) you can do 1d10_10 or 1d20 for attacks at your choice

Android is Stats. Once there you see Virtual TD button.

on the android version, when you go into Virtual TD there is a button in the top right once you have your character open in that environment where you can click on Bard Song. It then lets you select the bard level and instrument and will keep those in effect for the entire time unless you tell it the bard stops singing.

If you want to remove the Bard Song, go back into the Bard Song view, and select 'No Bard', and it gets set to +0 +0
