TOPIC: Last year for the Arcane Recipe tokens...

Re: Last year for the Arcane Recipe tokens... 13 years 3 months ago #37

The auction this year should be exceptionally interesting since these will be the last two. It should also drive up the price of gold this year.

Smack I want a Bard's Musical baton from which wafts Otto's Irresistable Dance music--does not affect the party or the monster--only the DM. Hah. The DM has to dance a jig until the music sounds time for the party to leave the room.

While I respect all sides in this debate, and I completely agree with you Widseth, that nothing, and I do mean nothing can replace the fun of running TD with a group that works well together,
I just want to play devils advocate here, you already have an artifact, it is easy for you to say that they aren't important, or should be auctioned off, or that it is good that they are going away. For those of us who buy a lot of tokens, just not as a lot as a few others it does kind of suck watching these cool artifacts both go to only a few, and secondly go away. I was kind of hopping that in a few years I might be able to go after one of them, but oh well C'est La Vie.

My only thought on this is it will have an interesting impact on the price of TD Gold - now the big items will be off the market after this year it will be curious to see what goes on at the auction as smaller items will probably go up in price as the gold from the big buyers is able to enter the market.

As an intersting thought, perhaps auction the recipies first and I bet you would see the gold/item increase as those who lost out on the final arcane recipie items put their gold into the rest of the auction.

I definitely think one should be put in the treasure draw for this year. It gives us less established or poorer folks an opportunity to dream and hope.

Of course, it also leads to a 'black market' of sorts wherein people are getting the Arcane Recipe through purely buying it straight up (possibly from people who aren't aware of the value of the item) instead of winning them in auction.

IMHO, I'm fine with them being removed from the treasure draws because it reduces the chances of situations where people are taking advantage of those who might not know better or getting an arcane recipe purely through financial buying power from occurring as a result.

i'm really torn over all the different angles of this argument. treasure box-no treasure box...groups affected or not...etc.

here is a question, and hardly a surprise to anyone, should i try for another one?
