TOPIC: Ultra Rare Combo Item - Supreme Ring of Elemental Command

I'm not the bad guy here...I hope I am not seen as such.<br /><br />I (like Henwy) try to make sure people (all people, buyers, collectors, small buyers, big buyers, late buyers, early buyers, ETC.) get a fair shake.<br /><br />To just ponder that someone that does not spend hours on this forum reading every post misses...(heck I know I have missed a TON - what is this plan about a special token buyer event?)<br /><br />Well shoot, I'm passionate about the tokens...and I fear - I REALLY FEAR, they are going down a bad path from time to time...I have to try and say something to at least warn about the decisions being made...lest I don't feel I can sleep well at night.<br /><br />Just hear me out, that is all I ask.  Right, more often wrong, I am posting in a public forum and I can shut up after hitting send, and not bug anyone.

<br />Don't worry, just make some noise on here or shill/lobby/e-mail/phone campaign and you can just get the rings you want reprinted in a couple of years when you feel like it.<br />Just say you weren't around earlier and that it isn't fair that someone has something you can't get anymore.<br /><br />

<br />So what would people here say to this<br /><br />Supreme Ring of Elemental Command - Reduces acid, cold, electrical, fire and sonic attacks by 5 points of damage, and it does 3 points of "eldritch" (divine druid magic) damage to a monster that hits the character with a melee attack.  Eldritch magic is very rare and ancient form of magic lost to the ages, and only very ancient elder magic can conjure it.  There is no known resistance magic for its effects.<br /><br />Would giving it one more revenge damage than the 'normal' rings and resistance to the missing elemental type make it more worthwhile/palatable?  Would it make it horribly broken?<br />

<br /><br />hmmm, I'd say this is pretty we have all the angles covered...acid is a nice add...<br /><br />How about this for a KILLER benefit..."and it does 3 points of eldritch damage to any monster attempting to attack wearer"...so even if the monster misses in melee, it does 3 points of damage on a failed attack!

correct, they may not represent the majority...but they still get things reprinted/made available/whatever.

<br /><br />Gary,<br />    I don't think anyone here sees you as the bad guy or questions your passion for tokens.  You express your opinion in an intelligent and thoughtful manner and I think that's all that anyone has the right to ask or expect.  I think we're fortunate to be a part of something that is so special.  We're fortunate to have a game creator who cares so much about the opinions of his fans.  I don't envy Jeff having to hear out all of our opinions and make decisions will all of that factoring in.  The opinions expressed by you and everyone else are indicative of the passion that we all have for True Dungeon and that's a powerful thing to behold.  I imagine it's overwhelming sometimes deciding how to make the most people happy.<br /><br />Kim

Seeing how many people seem disappointed with the power level of the Supreme Ring of Elemental Command, I'd guess that if you offered up a current PYP for a Ring of Fire Elemental Command (the only one out of print), you might find a taker, and that would solve the problem of needing a 2nd Ring of Fire Elemental Command.  I'm still debating whether to get rid of my Rings of Fire and Air Elemental Control, or whether I should get the remaining two and cash them in.  The ability stop 5 points of damage doesn't seem as significant now that we're going up to Level 4 or 5, with the corresponding increase in HP, especially when compared to the Ring options of Ring of Riches, Ring of Protection +3, and Ring of Frost. 

Thanks for all the feedback on the Ring and Rod.  I appreciate the passion and the well-considered points.<br /><br />I have always tried to leave the exact details up in the air with regard to Set powers so that I would have some flexibility with effects so I can adapted them to changing conditions and components of the game.  It would be very limiting to announce the complete Elemental set 5 years in advanced...but if that is what you guys want, then that's what I will do from now on.  I just reserve the right to create complete 3-piece sets in one year so I can make immediate ideas come into fruition.<br /><br />Now addressing the Supreme Ring of Elemental Command Combo power...I am sorry that the Combo power is not a big power, but if I want to give the two-item Eldritch Set power something really cool, then for balance I have to make the Supreme Ring kind of weak.  Remember all the concern earlier this week about getting too powerful of Ultra Rares?  Your advice holds true here as well.  I did not want to announce the two-piece Eldritch power until later (Ring plus Rod), but I guess it needs to be done now.  I won't announce the Rod of 7 Parts set power, however, until the 7th part is revealed.<br /><br />Note:  The recipe for the making the Supreme Ring of Elemental Command includes all four different Elemental Rings as well as one each of every Trade Item (like Darkwood Plank, Minotaur Hide) but no Monster Ingredient tokens like Stone Spider Fang or Orc Ear.<br /><br /><br />Two-Piece Eldritch Set Power:  By carrying two items of Eldritch power, a character is infused with the very ancient and powerful druidical magic which has not been conjured for many millennia.  Character spell casters ignore any monster's Spell Resistance, healing spells do +10 points of healing and melee attacks ignore any damage resistance.  Any Druid or Ranger with two Eldritch items gains one character level.<br /><br />This might not seem like a huge amount of power, but I believe the game will be in a different spot in 2015 when this set power should first be available.  I believe that Spell Resistance and melee damage resistance will be very important at that time.  Of course, I could be wrong, and that's the danger with having to announce this power 5 years in advance.  Let's hope for the sake of the collectors that I am right.<br /><br />A THIRD 4-piece Eldritch UR set will be released in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.  Complete info for all the four years will be released in 2013.  I will wait until 2015 to announce the 3-piece Eldritch Set Power so I can have a good idea of what the power should be.  My thoughts are that it will be a transformable power...<br /><br />Thank you again for the feedback and interest!<br />
