TOPIC: Token Guide 2010 (9.0) Feedback

Re: Token Guide 2010 (9.0) Feedback 13 years 11 months ago #37

Here's the discussion and Jeff's description:

Runestone Socket (weapon) - Allows runestone to be equipped to any melee weapon for adventure (use at start / only 2 sockets per item / only 1 weapon per person)

Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

That link doesn't work for me. Is that in the 'Lords and Ladies of Greyhawk' forum, by any chance?

That was a very early version of the list - LOTS of changes since that was posted. It is interesting that the Ioun Stone Black Pearl was originally an Ultra-Rare - I'm glad it was moved, since it isn't even overpowered as a Rare.

According to the notes on that post, "Last Edit: September 09, 2009, 08:54:06 AM by admin (Jeff Martin)" What was the drop dead date for the final tokens to go to manufacturing? (I have no idea when that was.)

Like JimC and Henwy, I very much remembered the allowance of two runestone fittings per weapon. I didn't recall a discussion where it went down to one. If anyone can point that out, please set me straight (so to speak ;) ) I'm also fully aware that Jeff can change his mind without discussing it with us and I'm totally fine with that. Someone asked where it was discussed, I provided the source of the discussion. That's all. :)
What is the firing rate of the new "hand crossbow" and "light crossbow" classes of weapons? Heavy crossbows (other then repeater) say they have a reload delay, but I can't find any text on the hand/light crossbows. (judging by the weapons damage, I assume they fire ever round but I'd like a ruling on it)

Also, which ammo goes with the light crossbow? The "Bolt" ammo or the "Hand crossbow bolt"?

(I suspect its going to be really difficult for people/dms to keep the "bolt" verse "hand crossbow bolt" distinction straight)

It does say that the token discussion moved from the Lords & Ladies section to the Volunteer Section, so perhaps someone with access to the Volunteer section could see what was said there. Although as others said, Jeff certainly had the right to modify it if he felt 2 sockets per weapon was too much. He might be open to someone switching their PURP pick if they'd gotten a second one thinking they could use it.

Lxbows fire once per round. We've had them before. The 'compensation' is the smaller damage. Of course, that's been shafted lately and we've left the scale established by the UR heavy repeating xbow a while back. The new standard is probably based more on the flaming shortbow.

I think what this recent spate of confusion has shown is that a UR guide _must_ be up before token purchasing begins. It's not all that important for anything else, but people will complain (some rightfully and some not) otherwise. It doesn't help that we usually have like 3 different stinking UR threads in the design/feedback period. There are surely some who don't keep up and that only needs to problems. Maybe those threads should be deleted or moved into a no-access folder once teh design is done, leaving only the official guide for the URs.

I will point it out to Jeff and see what he says.

As far as the light and hand crossbow:

1 round reload
regular bolts go with the light crossbow

Do all the various slide a 20 and get healed tokens stack with one another? At the moment, it would just be falchion/broadsword and the hat. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't but I figured I'd check.

It's too bad Questor's got changed. I'd love to have seen a 'I'm just here to slide 20's and look pretty' build. Especially assuming more such conditional tokens were added. Maybe a _something_ of crippling with it. Slide a 20, monster gets some penalty much like how the old True Arena red dot crit system used to work. Or slide a 20 and get one of those mini-halfcans of soda. Might be worthwhile. Refreshment is hard to come by in the middle of a dungeon. Add another token that provides chips and it sounds pretty kickass to me.
So you are saying they can fire every round or every other round?

I know that while we are not 3.5 official but something else entirely, but that is the advantage of the light and hand crossbow in that they can be fired every round compared to a heavy crossbow.
