TOPIC: Two Types of token bags in 2010?

Re: Two Types of token bags in 2010? 14 years 7 months ago #73
4a) 33% 50GP tokens
4b) 33% roll on sub table below

4b sub table
39%? Dwarven Steal tokens . . . 40%?
15% Minotaur Hide tokens . . . 15%?
18% Alchemist's Parchment tokens . . . 20%?
27% Darkwood Plank tokens . . . 25%?

4c) 33% 1pt healing tokens
4d) 1% UR/GT

I would also think it would be cool to include (perhaps exclusively) one shot ultra rare tokens in this 4b table.

4b sub table
39% Dwarven Steal tokens
15% Minotaur Hide tokens
18% Alchemist's Parchment tokens
27% Darkwood Plank tokens
01% One shot ultra rare

That way folks wont feel so bumbed about getting one-shot ultrarares. Some folks could then also get two ultra rare's in a pack. And you add in a nice thank you bonus to light packs (those who want the one-shot ultra rare tokens, and do not get the light packs can just trade for them or request them in pick your purples).

While I like the Darkrose50's idea of a sub table to prevent the 1/2 trade items from being printed, it does skew the numbers. In 100 packs currently (based on last 3 years of token runs) you get enough tokens to create 17-18 trade items.

The sub table method would create 33 trade items.

By the way, as a big buyer I'm not sure where I would vote. I know I would want at least 50% of my big order to be regular 10 packs. And depending on what is in the common mix that we are not covering (potions, salves, ammo, etc) that percentage might increase. As long as the buyers have flexibility in determining the ratio they want, it seems like a good idea.

If we went to a 10/4 system I think it would actually generate more revenue for TD. This is because the factory requires TD to have a mininum number of tokens printed; if TD doesn't have to print those six extra commons, they can actually create more total packs of tokens to sell for the same number of tokens the factory minimum is set to. This of course assumes that TD sells out, but they have for the past two years.

• For the last 3 year's of token runs, there have been 2 pts of healing in each run, this gives 34.95 pts of healing per 100 bags; so the proposal shorts the player 1.95 pts of healing
 •

Is this common healing?

Objective 1) 1660.125 GP worth of common tokens per 100 bags
Objective 2) 34.95 pts of common (?) healing per 100 bags

1) Rare
2) Uncommon
3) Uncommon
4a) 64% 25 GP Tokens = 1600 GP per 100 bags
4b) 10% 5 GP tokens = 50 GP per 100 bags
4c) 18% roll on sub table below

4c sub table
39%+1%? Dwarven Steal tokens
15% Minotaur Hide tokens
18% Alchemist's Parchment tokens
27% Darkwood Plank tokens

4d) 7% 5-point healing token = 35 healing per 100 bags
4e) 1% Ultra Rare

Objective 1) 1650/1660.125 GP worth of common tokens per 100 bags
Objective 2) 35/34.95 pts of common (?) healing per 100 bags

I do not really think having a 5-point healing potion in stay of five 1-point healing potions would unbalance things, especially with high volume token buyers. I know I never used a rare or uncommon healing item . . . I always use the little healing. This would have the added bonus of less weight for the big token buyers.

Using the above light pack distribution . . .

$1000 order of 120 packs would be 484 tokens in stay of 1204. That is 60% less tokens being made if/when we use light packs. Maybe with these slots not being produced we could have more special tokens make their way into circulation. Less money spent on packs could mean more money spent on dungeon loot. Perhaps putting it this way sounds better than 4-token light packs.

Slot 1) 120 Rare Tokens
Slot 2) 120 Uncommon Tokens
Slot 3) 120 Uncommon Tokens
Slot 4) 120 Tokens
Slot 4a) [76.8] 25 GP Tokens
Slot 4b) [12.0] 5 GP Tokens
Slot 4c) [21.6] Ingredient tokens
8.64 Dwarven Steal tokens*
3.24 Minotaur Hide tokens
3.89 Alchemist's Parchment tokens
5.83 Darkwood Plank tokens
Slot 4d) [08.4] 5-point healing
Slot 4e) [01.2] Ultra Rare tokens
Pick your own purple slot) 4 Ultra Rare tokens

*Assuming 40% (the extrapolated data from JimC is 39%).

Probably should normalize to 100 bags as that is what the bonus UR is based off of, thus your numbers would be:
1) 100 rares
2) 100 uncommons
3) 100 uncommons
4a) 64 25GP tokens
4b) 10 6GP tokens (use 6 instead of 5 to get closer to 100 10 packs)
4c) 7 dwarven steel tokens
3 minotaur hide tokens
3 alchemist's parchment tokens
5 darkwood plank tokens
4d) 7 5pt healing tokens
4e) 1 UR/GT token

Better than the proposal with "half" trade ingredients? Don't know. Both have new tokens and some compromises. Interesting though, both proposals would require collectors to either get some of the "light" bags or scramble via trades to get the special new tokens (i.e., 1/2 trade items, 25GP common, 5 pt common healing, etc.)

Jim

I would strive to keep all the gold in 5 GP increments.

100 pack lot

Wow...thanks for all the "figurin'"! Jethro Bodean here is impressed!

--

One last idea to throw out to really the big buyers to whom this idea holds more fruit. You collectors fund a HUGE amount of TD and if I can make your life easier with some more work, then I don't mind. In fact, I would be happy to do so.

What if we give anyone placing a $8K Onyx pre-order a chance to have two options. One...is do it like last year (including cool Onyx set) where you get all your tokens in 960 10-packs. or Two...Onyx Set plus you get 20% of your tokens in 10-packs (basically the bonus 160 free ones) and the other 800 10-packs are not sent -- but replaced by this:

800 random Rares (shipped together in one box)
1,600 random Uncommons (shipped together in one box)
X amount of GP (average amount for 800 10-packs)*
X amount of Uncommon Healing tokens (equal to average amount for 800 10-packs)*
X amount of various Trade items (equal to average amount for 800 10-packs)*
8 random Ultra Rare tokens (this equals average amount for 800 10-packs) <stirred into the box of 800 Rares

*All these figures would have to be completed after the 2010 token set is finished. That way the numbers are just reflective of the 2010 set. For the sake of simplicity, let's say the Common types and their values will match those of 2009 exactly. So...2009 data can be used now to figure these numbers exactly. Any takers?

Again...this is just an option we are extending to the big buyers to make sure their token experience is as good as it can be. They will still have some fun opening 10-packs, but the process will seem like more fun and less work for them with this method. Also, this will mean less work for Dave -- who works to hard already. (Besides, Lori has threatened me to lighten up Dave's load in 2010! He might even get to work on his house this year!) And finally, it will save True Dungeon some production and shipping costs as well. It is a win-win scenario for big buyers who would like less work on their part.

This idea would not be too hard to administer, and it would be permissible with the factory for the way they do things. I would just have to have the pre-orders completed for this option before we order. We would have to know ahead of time for this time-saving option to work for the big buyers.

Any feedback?
