TOPIC: A word from the TSA...

Re: A word from the TSA... 15 years 5 months ago #13

I'm not sure you can blame all of the media for the poor reporting of one malcontent, although certainly some in the media have hit new lows in their reporting of the presidential campaign. Don't take the article so personally. It's just one fool's extrapolation of one bad apple to a large group of better people.

I don't blame the media for being the media...I just take them with a huge grain of salt every time I hear something dark.

Evan,

I have not worked at the airport or something of it's scale.
But I can say having worked at Disneyland, I appreciated the increased security measures when I worked there. I'm sure to most guests it was deemed an inconvience. But when you work some place you see a different side of things.
I remember being shocked when I found a loaded gunclip in a matterhorn bobsled seat when I went to pull out the seatbelts that must have fallen out of someones pocket.

One thing to keep in mind also - people are usually not at their best when travelling.

Tired, rushed, hungry, away from loved ones, doing something that they are afraid of, get sick of etc.

So to say that TSA folks are convenient - well yes. Consider all of the above, and then add to that having someone ask you to take off your shoes.

I know I sure appreciate TSA and keeping us safe. But I'm sure it is one of the totally thankless jobs out there!

But there are so many people that believe everything they read or hear... a couple negative spins is enough to turn almost anyone into the bad guy.

when you decide to fly, you acknowledge/accept certain risks and pains. just deal with it and don't take it out on the people doing their job.

Well sure!

But can I just say this...there are some REALLY considerate folks (Sis might remember the guy from our last trip, he was very careful and asked if there was anything fragile...etc) and there are some LESS considerate folks...it is really hard for me personally to be rainbow bright with all of the above mentioned factors (previous post) AND someone tossing through my bag like it was junk! (((this is partially the reason I went to tokens in sheets and in a special case...)))

I fully appreciate the TSA and the job they have to do. I don't let a bad apple or two and my cranky flight tude drive me to write articles for mass publication...well forums don't count do they? =D

Better than the captain and co-pilot being in darkness, that would not be good! =D
