OK so it has been a month and TB just got his ACL replaced??

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady underwent surgery on his left knee this week, a month after he was sidelined with the season-ending injury, The Boston Globe said. The paper reported Wednesday that the operation was performed Monday in Los Angeles. Brady's replacement, Matt Cassel, said he tried calling him.

um - I took me a month to get my ACL replaced cuz I went the workman's comp route...(happened at a company picnic!)

anyway...I wonder why they waited one month? I know they are most likley taking the best care in the world of him...but in the month I waited...I lost almost 2 inches in my quad with muscle atrophy! I sure hope ole chicken leg Tom is doing better than that!

Sure would have thought they would have had him under the knife the next day VS a month later! I was told it is a minimum of 6 months recovery time...and more like a year before you feel good running on a replaced ACL.

Good luck Tom!
I heard they had to wait the month so his MCL could heal, before they could operate on his ACL.

That is indeed the case.

That is true, and I'm sure that they also needed the swelling to go down. My dad had a similar knee injury in which they didn't operate for nearly 3 weeks because they wanted the swelling to subside before going in to do work on the knee.

Sports radio was just talking about Brady "possibly" needing a third operation. They said if it happens, he is back to square 1 on rehab after it happens.

Yeah, I recently read an article that said that he's had (I think) three procedures to try to deal with the infection, and had more planned. The Patriots are mad because they wanted him to use their doctor in Boston, but he picked his own in CA instead. Brady was supposed to be back in Boston by now, but there's no idea now when he will get there. The article said that if the infection wasn't dealt with, it could permanently compromise the new ligament.

It's kind of hard to imagine the Patriots getting mad at Tom Brady for anything.

Kim

From SI.Com:

Doctors of Tom Brady continue to fight an infection in the quarterback's surgically repaired knee, and the Patriots are unhappy with the situation. From ESPN.com:

The Patriots, as an organization, are upset with the situation because they were clear that they wanted Brady's surgery done under the direction of doctors of their choosing in Boston, sources told ESPN.

Instead, Brady opted to have the surgery in California by a doctor his family preferred, and now there are major problems. Brady was supposed to be back in New England by now, but a timeline for his return remains unclear.

Brady recently acknowledged on his Web site that doctors went in "to clean and to test the wound" on Oct. 15 because of the infection. The New England Patriots quarterback has had two more similar procedures since then.

If the infection is not brought under control, the patellar tendon graft used to replace Brady's anterior cruciate ligament could become compromised.

• Brady has more procedures for infection (ESPN.com)
