The knitting rings mentioned look like they might make a good replacement.

I’m assuming this was because it was a little loose, and say well done.

Ha. Really not that loose. I've had it for about 10 years and its never fallen off before. Not sure what happened this time. Have heard it might have been found, but may be too late for me to recover.

My crit success ring also slipped off my finger. I will try Cranston’s tracker watch app next time!

My only personal experience is with the now-defunct CritSuccess (still have their ring and love it, but looking to acquire an additional size or two because my finger seems to fluctuate over time).

However, I wrote down that somebody on one of my GenCon runs said KnitPro is good (possibly Dan and Rachel? not sure though) so I'm probably going to order one of those once I find time to do some measuring.

So I have the knitting row counter rings for.....wait for it...

KNITTING!

I use the Knitters Pride ones. I've had NO trouble with them, but I will say that when you first get it you need to turn the dials forward and back to get them de-burred, as they tend to catch a bit at first. After that, no problems for me (other than remembering to move it when I finish a row, but that's on ME).

In other news, my knitting hobby has paid off for TD finally, as when Jeff and I returned to HQ Monday to unload some of the "office" stuff, I handed him a box of volunteer tokens and URs and didn't make sure he had a hold of it before I let go, so we promptly dropped the whole box on the parking lot...and tokens went scattering! As we picked up tokens, I noticed a knitting row counter ring. How in the world did my ring get in there? Upon further examination, I realized it was not my ring, but likely someone's HP counter ring. We put all the contents back in the box, unloaded to the office, and then I went into hibernation until today.

Today I get an email from Dave about his HP ring. Normally I would have NO CLUE if we had something, but due to the hobby intersection above, I knew EXACTLY what he was talking about AND EXACTLY where the ring was!

All is well that ends well, friends. Dave will get his ring back, and now we know that gamers and knitters can co-exist in cross-hobby bliss whilst twirling health/rows on their rings!

Cheers for a great Gen Con everyone! The TD community is top notch!

I have a few of the Knitter’s Pride brand rings.

Here’s a black one - about $30

Here’s a rainbow one - about $35
amzn.to/45CygJL

Those are vendors I’ve ordered from and use my rings often! I like to keep them with a project so that if I move to another project for a while I can go back and know where I was on the project I sat aside for a few days.

EDITED to add - check and see if you have a local yarn store! If so, call them up and see if they have these rings in stock. Local yarn stores are struggling to complete with online shopping, so if you can get one locally, go visit your LYS!

My suggestion for fixing the HP System would be:
Edit the Borders of the Character Cards to be White, change the HP totals to be black to provide most contrast so it can be easy to read. (Borders could be black with white text as well).

Change paperclips out for Wonder Clips . They are much easier to see in dungeon, have less of a habit of sliding off, and would scrape cards less as well.

Also as an additional option, TDHQ could sell HP Tracking Amulets based off some popular counter designs at the Token Sales booth for people who care enough.

A third, pie in the sky feedback.
Redesign the 10th level player medallion to include a HP counter into it. (I don't think this is fair to expect, but I think it would be super cool)

I have thought about this many times. Cannot find a wearable led life tracker online. Have seriously contemplated contacting my school's electrical engineering department to see if this is a project appropriate for a couple enterprising undergrads.

Remember that outside light sources are generally not permitted in the dungeon

So thankful I'm getting my crit success ring back, but also decided I needed a backup. So, I ordered one of the Knitter's Pride rings. I usually wear my ring on my thumb and my crit success ring is a size 13. The largest size I could find online was size 12. I ordered it anyway. I received it and it fits, just a little more snug. No real problem getting it on or off, so maybe that's a good thing.

In general, it looks to be just as good as the crit success ring. Yeah, I spun it around a little to wear off the burrs, but seems to work just fine and looks great (I got the rainbow one).
