Hey, you talented and knowledgeable computer masters. I need some tech advice. I am thinking of using a password manager. Any advice or recommendations?

Make another choice.

Or download autohotkey and create your own password entry hotkeys for it

I’ve used LastPass for a few years.

I think they have a free version.

Is this in English? “Autohotkey?”

It's a program you can load on the computer and give it basic instructions to automatically send specific keystrokes to the keyboard based on key combinations.

It gets you the password manager setup without risk of external hacking of a server exposing you

If you don't want to trust a SaaS provider, definitely consider KeePassXC: keepassxc.org/

Yes, my AC is lower than the Wizard's. No regrets!

I work in InfoSec and everyone I know, including my GIAC instructors and the F50 corporation I work for, uses LastPass.

External hacking of a server exposing what exactly? My encrypted passwords?

I've been using and loving LastPass for many years. It's completely cross-platform so you can use your account on Mac OS, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux, Chrome OS, and has optional plug-ins for all major desktop browsers.

LastPass does not have access to your information. Your "stuff" is encrypted from start to finish. If the LastPass servers were ever hacked, all they would get is a meaningless blob of random characters.

If you want a highly detailed explanation of why LastPass is secure, check out Security Now podcast episode #256. The LastPass coverage starts at the 52:45 mark. You can watch it as a video on YouTube (that links directly to the 52:45 mark) or listen to it as audio on Steve Gibson's (the "star" of Security Now) website grc.com . The show notes and audio versions of the podcast are also on GRC. Episode #256 is about halfway down that page, but you can jump directly to it be searching that page for "LastPass" (no spaces).

For the record, I have absolutely no affiliation with LastPass nor does True Dungeon. I just love it.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
Please post TDb corrections in this thread .
If I write something in teal, it should not be taken seriously

I've been getting lots of strong recommendations for both LastPass and 1Password.
