I thought I had mentioned it earlier, but looks like I hadn't.

Simon, when he is casting spells, if you can understand sign language, you will pick up on him spelling out the name of the spell using sign language. He's not just waving his hands around while casting for nothing.

Honestly, better than I had hoped for. I'll be pretty pumped if we get a D&DEU like they're planning

That is totally awesome.

Isabelle and I saw it yesterday and thought it was really good. It is campy and doesn't try to be Lord of the Rings. It leans into its own humor while throwing in quite a few D&D references but doesn't overload you with lore or such. At one point, it shows a moon with debris from what looks like where another moon would have been but doesn't explain it as an example.

There are also some moments that are straight out of in-game things that most of us have seen happen (No spoilers but the speak with dead scene is a great example of that.)

I recommend it even for people who aren't D&D buffs.

I took my small D&D obsessed child to the preview weekend matinee and he loved it. I enjoyed the humor and the sword coast references. I would definitely recommend it.

Saw the movie tonight and thought it was great! Had some good laughs. Would watch again. Also, AMC theaters has some cool promotional items for this movie, including a D20 popcorn bucket and tankard, which are pretty cool.

YES!

These bits of debris are actually known as the Tears of Selune, and while I was super happy to see them (they have a very small part in an adventure I wrote, and are featured in other content that I advised on) I was very pleased that they weren't name-dropped or otherwise explained. There's SO much history for the Forgotten Realms that the movie could easily have been like drinking from the firehose, but simply showing things like this and just accepting them as-is lends additional authenticity to the movie's events.

Big support for the movie. Anyone on the fence... catch a matinee, grab a drink and some snacks, and enjoy yourself :)

I went on Thursday night. Very enjoyable with a lot of little quick hidden treasures. I will probably go again after I get some Super Plummer Action this week.
