He is sort of geek. Besides Lord of the Rings, he knows quite a bit about the Marvel Universe. I don't think he was trying to be mean. He was sort of focused on a feature that allows you to save power by turning off the lights, which he found odd because then they were just like ordinary dice, which didn't cost nearly as much.

He was probably trying to help it find backers. Remember the Colbert bump from when he was doing the Colbert report. Even if he's mocking you he's also giving you exposure. Way more people who want these now know about them, and really "some guys on the internet wants $200 for dice" would be quite ridiculous to people who watch late night and think dice are those things you get for free with a $10 board game.
Semper Gumby, Always flexible.

Sartre sits in in a coffee shop and asks for a coffee without cream. The barista apologizes “Sorry, we don't have any cream. Can I offer you a coffee without milk instead?”

He played D&D 30 years ago. He did a one-on-one D&D game with Matt Mercer for Red Nose Day a couple years ago and talked about it. Wouldn't be surprised if "get these newfangled dice off my lawn" is a default position of his.

Except ordinary dice do not electronically send their results to Roll20 and other apps.

The fact that Pixels Dice included a link to Colbert's bit in their most recent update suggests to me that they're fine receiving the Colbert Bump and/or appreciated the joke.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

Good to hear they were ok with it. I really didn't think it was intended to be negative toward their product.

In case you were on the fence about backing the Pixels Dice Kickstarter , you only have a few hours left. It closes at 10:59 am CDT on Thursday, April 8. At the time I'm writing this, they're about $100,000 away from the last stretch goal. Now's the time folks! Help us push it over the mark!

Full Disclosure: I am a backer of this Kickstarter, but have no other affiliation with Pixels Dice.
