For me GotG is number on. I had no exceptions for it, knew nothing about any of the characters ahead of time and thought it would just be good silly fun. And it is good silly fun. The music is the best music or second best music of any superhero film to date. The characters though is what takes the cake for me. It is an ensemble group of heroes that actually work well together as a story together instead of being forced to like I feel the avengers stories are. Individual that are pretty great as well. They have depth to them, even Drax, which is hard to do with 5 new characters in one film. The film has heart as well, imo. Though I don't cry at Groot's Death it is still something to see harden Rocket moved by his friend's loss.

Into the Spiderverse is my number 2. I am NOT a Spiderman fan. He has just never done it for me. I loved Miles Morales though. It is Mile's movie without any question, but it provides enough room to get to explore other characters. The music was fantastic. This movie did make me tear up, maybe I am just a sap Miles growth as a character works better than any other hero film, imo. Lastly it was funny and as others have said beautiful. The way they wove different animations styles together was great.

The original Superman and Batman also old special places for me, but I cannot watch them again and again. I also don't sing/listen to any of the songs of them. Music in a film for me is big. Star Wars would not be Star Wars without John Williams wonderful music. The shark would not be as scary without his music.

John Williams for Superman is iconic though.

I think Heath Ledger's Joker is the best comic book movie villain ever. He made such a unique, interesting character. The rest of the movie isn't as good as he was though. Batman kind of sucks at Batmaning throughout, and a lot of the plot doesn't make sense. I still enjoyed it, but mostly for Joker.

Mystery Men is an underappreciated gem. It's one of my "I'm bored and a little bit drunk" go tos.

GOTG is probably my second favorite Marvel movie, but the sheer joy of Ragnarok wins out for me.

I do love the sheer joy of Ragnarok, I can watch it and the two GOTG films over and over again.

I was lucky enough to be able to watch one of the scenes of Mystery Men getting filmed on the Universal Films lot in person, so it's got an extra special connection for me. :)

I have a nostalgic soft spot for the 1989 Michael Keaton Batman and Spider Man with Tobey Maguire.

I was really happy with Into the Spiderverse, which I saw on a plane and was not invested in at all at the start.

Did you hear that Michael Keaton is playing Batman again in the new Flash movie they're making?

The 1989 Batman is a great touchstone. I Actually like Returns better for the sheer over the top camp. Two words: Rocket Penguins.

would any of the star wars movies be considered super hero type?

to pick only one is tough. i will say that i have not been able to see many movies in this genre.

As much as I love Star Wars, it is not a superhero movie in my book. Nor would I say Heavy Metal is, just because it has multiple stories and some are not superhero in subject matter.
