TOPIC: Dungeon Tools?

Dungeon Tools? 5 years 10 months ago #1

Our D&D group is scattered for miles, so we use Roll20. Our DM is on hiatus because summer break, and I haven’t put together a campaign in years, but I’m going to see what I can do.

So: what mapping software do you use? I’m looking for something that’s free, easy, and turns out awesome maps. That doesn’t exist of course, so what comes closest in your opinion?

I’m looking at WorldSpinner, which looks awesome at a macro level, and I’m happy to spend $10/yr for something to build a planet and nations and what not, but it doesn’t seem to do cities or dungeons. I need something tactical.

I could just draw rectangles in Paint or something, but I’m hoping for something snazzier.

Back when i needed a graphical solution, I used Dundjinni. I think the community is a bit dead now, but the assets are all still out there. If you had an eye for it, you could churn out some seriously pretty dungeons with it.

If you want more info on my experience there, happy to take it to PMs etc.

Brad, do you need another player? I'm looking to play regularly again. My group is scattered, too, and rarely can play anymore.

I have used ProFantasy ( www.profantasy.com/ ) - cost is high and a steeper learning curve but tons of good add-ons.
