. . .
Okay, lemmie explain a little. Typically about once a year I cut my hair for locks of love. I'm thinking probably around Indy it'll be time for me to lop the mop off.

But I'm debating cutting it before or after the con.
Usually though when I cut it though I only leave about a ten inch pony tail. So I wouldn't be able to do too much with my hair comparitively with what I'm use to. At home its no big deal. But then again with the long hours it might be a bit easier to manage.

Typically my hair reaches my waist/ the small of my back when I cut it.
This is usually what my hair length is after the pony tail lopping:

What do you all think, Lop off before or hold off till after the con?

Definately after! I know it's a hassle having long hair in the summer which is when ideally you want it short ... but GenCon'll be so much more fun when you have it all to play with ... of course, if you were thinking about wearing a wig, it would be easier if there's less hair underneath it ... so it just depends I guess ... and cutting it before winter isn't a bad thing, avoid the static electricity buildup in it ...

I think you should wait until after the con as well. I know though that it is nice to have shorter hair in the summer. I think it's great that you do that for Locks of Love. I've known a few other people who do that as well. As crazy as the world is getting, I do think that the charitable spirit of people is growing.

After is what I was thinking, because I have some leather hair ties I wanted to use. And if I lop off as much as I usually do I probably couldn't use them.

Fortunately my hair is the one reasonably healthy thing about me! *little laugh* The past few years I've been able to donate about 30" of hair. :)

Thanks for your imput gals, much appreciated.

Well a bro's vote would also be after...keep the pretty pretty hair to show off - then let it do some more good once the Con is over.

*little laugh* Thanks for the pretty hair comment bro. *hugs* Remind me reward you with more gummy bears. Need to keep you sweet. hehehehehehehehe

Well I'm not a show off, but I think I'll wait till after the con before making the cut. I can do more with my mop long than I can short.
Thanks y'all for your thoughts on the matter. :)

And if any of you ever on whim or whatever motivation decide to cut your hair.
Locks of Love's minimum length is 10".
Have ponytailed or braided. Put in a ziplock and write the length on it. Mail in a padded envelope to:

I also vote after.

It's great that you do this. Kevin has a friend that does this also. He gets teased a lot for having a mullet most of the time, but he does it to grow the back long and then have it cut for Locks of Love.

I wish I could get mine long enough to cut. But if I did it right now I'd end up with a Dorothy Hamill cut, and I just can't stand it that short.

Thanks. *smiles* I like to be able to help. :)

ehehehe no mullet here.
My hair isn't really cut to a 'style'.
I had my hair cut a short style back in 97', and everyone said its cute. And then as soon as it grew out some, they're all I'm so glad you grew your hair out that short style just didn't look good. *rolls eyes*

And my grandmother has fits after I lopped off my hair for locks of love. After the first time I cut off 18"(at the scrunchie), so it was more like 20" shorter by the time the pony tail was cut and the ends evened, my grandma kept bringing it up.
We went to lunch and the waitress(had hair like 4" longer than mine) had long hair. And my grandma's all, 'Look at your beautiful hair.
You know my grand daughter(with me sitting right there) use to have long beautiful hair like that, and you know what she did. SHE CUT IT?!?!'

*sighs* Can't please everyone all the time.
But hey, I said I'm only here to help, that's not saying I can make everyone happy all the time.
But in general I am all about the KTMH.

Speaking of which chores call!

Thanks again y'all for your comments. *smiles*

I would hold off until after Gen Con personally.

Locks for Love unfortunatly does not accept dyed hair, otherwise when I chopped 2 feet off in November I would have sent it to them.

Hair may be colored or permed, but not bleached or chemically damaged (if unsure, ask your stylist).

I say that you will look absolutely loverly either way you have your hair cut. I also think it's great that you do this. I only got to do that once in my life as I've not let my hair grow long enough to do it again.
