Staying on stage for more the sixty seconds is a pretty good bar.

It's kinda sad but as the event has expanded, it's become far more regimented. You can tell if you've attended 4-5 years ago and compared it to now. It's completely regimented now...get on stage, how did you get here? what do you do? Die. Back in the day, it was far more freeform. The amount of time you stayed on stage completely varied based on whim and flow. There were even people who were 'forgotten' and got to stick around for over half a hour.

I agree. It was less formulaic in the past.
This year the trick seemed to be to write your self into the story but mostly evade it by getting out of the current scene...aka hiding in the bathroom.

Or something like - I got here via hot air ballon and the first thing I do is run to the nearest bomb shelter.
Lame and not funny but would keep you alive for the most part.

Have to agree - more and more scripted and not enough free-flowing add-lib. Not enough people doing amazingly heroic (and stupid) things!

They say that the best weapon is the one you never have to use. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to use once! Oh - and if you really need to think about whether you're going to use the fireball or the + umpty staff of butt-whooping - you're likely to find yourself full of arrows, or fangs, or nasty knives & swords and such. Don't think - just shoot!

One of the people I was sitting next to kept complaining about the 'Laura Quests'. Personally, I don't mind them, but I could kinda see where she was coming from. They do take up a fare bit of time and interrupt the story.

Okay - just got back from DragonCon. Killer Breakfast was a late add-on and a first-time run. Room was small, crowd was small; completely different experience than GenCon.

From what you're saying, it was probably a return to earlier versions at GenCon. Everyone was involved. Many played twice. The formula started the same, but Tracy had more freedom to guide the story in whatever direction he felt would provide the most entertainment. And he did...

I guess the point is that the GenCon versions are heavily impacted by size - and the need to kill as many as possible.

Well, some don't like them, since they're really a break. I don't blame Tracy for needing them; I hope they create some new ones to keep them interesting, however.

Well, I laughed so hard I threw a disc out on my back. I think I was one of the winners. My buddy (the guy in the horns that changed the water to alcohol in the clip) won because he had a great time, and had people walking up to him all day patting him on the back. He was a winner, too.
